cribed the illustrious if unsuc-
cessful career' of Nareisse Can-
tu). and his proposed St. Jo.
seph development.
About 25 men of various

were guests of the Kinsmen for
their annual RCAF night, held
at the Dufferin. Hotel, Cen-
tralia.
Mr. Wooden, a geography in-
structor, has made an exhaus-
tive study into the life and en-
terprise of the late St. Joseph
developer and his plans to cre-
ate a St. Lawrence seaway with
a major resort on Lake Huron.
He outlined Mr. Cantin's
family history, his impressive
association with Canadian and
US financiers and his flamboy-
ant efforts to sell his immnse
undertaking to influential lead.

church was held in the Sunday
school rooms.
Mrs. Nelson Schenk as con-
venor led in the worship period
with song and scripture. Mrs.
A. M, Schlenker, convenor of
spiritual life, stressed the need
of Bible reading and prayer.
Mrs. .Martha Rats led in
prayer. Doris Schwartz favored
with a solo,
The study on ''Partnership
and Obedience" was given by
Mrs. G, E. Wenzel. Mrs. Paul
Schenk delighted the ladies
with a piano solo, Others tak-
ing part were Mrs. Lorne Fink-
beiner, Mrs. Em. Wein and
Mrs. Lloyd Hey.
Mrs. Gordon Ratz took
charge of the business. Mrs.
Joe Finkbeiner, sewing con-
venor, reported six quilts and
one blanket sent to the Rescue
Mission at London and two
comforters and a blanket to be
sent to Mr. Norman Gower, a
brother of Mrs, Allan Fink-
beiner, who recently lost his
home in Manitoba, and four
comforters were sent to Am-
stein.
It was also voted to invite
the Ministers' Institute to meet
at the church next February.
Lunch was served by Mrs,
E. Wenzel, Mrs. W. "Wein, Mrs,
E. Wein and Mrs. R. Rats.
World Service Sunday
The ladies of the WSWS had
charge of the service
at the HUB church on Sunday
morning, it being World Serv-
ice Day. Mrs. Gordon Rats
presided and Miss Audrey
Finkbeiner, missionary at St.
Lucia, West Indies, formerly
of Shipka, was guest speaker.
A double duet was sung by
Mrs. I. Ratz, Mrs. W. Weber,
Mrs. Harold Fahner and Mrs,
L. Lamport.
Roof caught fire
Firemen were called to a fire
at the home of Mr. William
Muller, south of the village. It
is thought a spark ignited the
roof of the house:
The roof was partially de-
stroyed.
VP holds party
About 25 young people of the
United Church attended a to-
boggan and skating party on
Monday evening at the Pinery.
They returned to the church
for lunch.
Plan Cub banquet
The Group Committee of
Crediton Cub pack held a meet-
ing in the community centre on
February 2. A financial report
was presented by leader, Chas.
Browning.
Final plans for the up-coming
banquet. February 23 were
discussed. Tickets are now on
sale, The bottle drive was a
huge success.

Teen Town semi-formal held
