It was the fifth straight win
fOr the junior girls, but they
had one of their toughest
games of the season as they
eked out a 24-20 win, They
started nut in their usual
fashion by opening up a corn-
mandiug 13.3 lead in the first
quarter and led 19-6 at the end
of the half.
liowever, after being held to
a 3-3 draw in the third stanza,
Stratford started a late rally
that netted them 11 points in
the fourth period. while the
locals managed only two. but
never relinquished their lead.
Marjorie McPhee and Suz-
anne Taaale paced the attack
with 10 and eight points re-
spectively,
Seniors post easy win
The senior girls returned to
their winning ways as they
completely dominated play to
post a convincing a8.9 win over
their guests.
The SH defensive unit played
a stellar game as they held
Stratford to a mere point in
the entire first halt.
Xandra Busehe paced the om
slaught with 18 points. while
Ausma Gulens hooped 14 and
Pat Rowe picked up the other
six points.
Panthers nipped
The Panthers were handed
their third loss of the season
when they were stopped 52-46
in a nip and tuck battle in
Stretford.
The homesters opened up a
five point lead in the first
quarter, but the Panthers came
back to whittle the margin to
two points at the half. How-
ever, Stratford potted 17 points
in the third stanza while the
Panthers managed only 12.
The two teams battled on
even terms in the last quarter
with the Panthers managing to
whittle the lead by only one
point.
Bob Schroeder, the Panthers'
high-scoring forward. missed
the game due to an ankle in-
jury and the team was weak-
ened further when Dale Tur-
vey fouled out.
Steve Kyle and. Dennis Mock
provided most of the scorin ,v
punch for the Panthers witli
Kyle hitting for 20 points and
Mock sinking 13.
Neither team took advantage
of their free throws, as the
Raiders missed on eight and
the Panthers failed in seven
of their tries,
Juniors trounced
The junior boys had their
win streak snapped at three
when Stratford whipped them
46-19 as nine of the junior
Raiders hit the score sheet.
Playing without regulars Don
Ferguson and Ron Motz, the
SH crew were no match for
Stratford, who posted their
second win over the locals.
Stratford opened up an 18.10
lead in the first quarter and
never looked back as they ran
completely over the locals.
South. Huron managed only
four points in each of the sec-
ond. and fourth quarters and
were held to a mere 'single
point in the third stanza. Nine
of their points came from the
'foul line,
Ralph Beiger paced the al.-
tack for Stratford with 20 big
points, one more than the en-
tire SH team.
Dave Buchanan and Larva
idle were the top scorers for
the locals with six points each.

The first game of the Exe-
ter public school basketball
double-header was an easy win
feir the Hot Hoopera who whal-
loped the Limber Leda L6.5,
Monday.
George Armstrong scored 14
points for the winners,
The second game was a chase
battle between the Neat Net-
ters and the. Floor Flashers, re-
sulting in a 1210 win for the
Neat Netters.
Ray Cockwill scored the last
field goal which turned out to
be the, game winner,

ketball squads split in their
home games with Listowel.
Thursday,. with the juniors

cohorts were stopped •16-37.
The Panthers couldn't find
the range to their second loss
of the season. as they hit for
a miserable 22 percent from
the floor. putting up a total of
77 shots.
