Rebekahs donate heater to hospital
Members of the town's Rebekah Lodge have donated this baker-heater to South
Huron Hospital to assist in the treatment of district patients, Miss Myrtle Ninham,
RN, supervisor, demonstrates the equipment to two of the lodge officials instru-
mental in the project, Mrs. Delmar Skinner, past noble grand, and Mrs. Arthur Idle,

plans for new bridge
McGillivray council has or-
dered preparation of plans and
specifications for a new Charle-
ton Bridge on concession 6 and
7 Over Mud Creek,

Little Johnnie Hauwert, five-
year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Theo Hauwert, Con. 8, Tucker-
smith, is a patient in St. Jo-
seph's Hospital, London, hav-
ing undergone surgery,
Baby Cooper, infant daughter
of Mr, and Mrs. Lloyd Cooper,
8th Con. Tuckersmith, is in
Scott Memorial Hospital, Sea-
forth, recovering from an at-
tack of pneumonia.
The MacKay family was in-
formed of the sudden death of
Percy Holmes, Toronto, who
died of a heart attack. Mr.
Holmes is a brother of Mrs.
Ross MacKay, Hillsburgh.
Mr. Bob Kinsman fell on the
ice causing a broken ankle.
The doctor placed a walking
cast on it. It is hoped he soon
will be able to walk as usual,
Mr. and. Mrs. Norman Rick-
ert visited Mrs. Dickert Sr. on
Sunday at her home in Harris-
ton.
Mr. Norman Long was admit-
ted by ambulance to Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth,
on Wednesday, January 17,

Orpha Club works for CAS
The Grand Bend Orpha Club
met at the home of Mrs, Ted
Stanlake on Tuesday, January
16 and the new year brought
forth new interest in the sew-
ing, knitting and crocheting for
the Easter donation to the
Children's Aid Society,
Several finished articles of
clothing were turned in, with
many members busy knitting
and sewing to make this Easter
donation bigger and better.
The next meeting will be
on Tuesday, Janhary 30 at the
home of Mrs. Cornell Roberts.

Congregational meeting
The annual congregational

Rev. Hugh Wilson took
charge of the meeting. Mrs.
Edwin Miller was nominated
as secretary for the afternoon.

On Wednesday evening the
monthly meeting of the Happy
Doubles Club was held. William

A story was read by Mrs,
Arnold Cann. A humorous sto-
ry "A Moment With Mandy"
was read by Mrs. William Roh-
de. A record and a film "An-
gola Awakes" was shown by
Donald Bray. Several games
and contests were enjoyed.
Lunch was served by the
