Another winner
Dick Jermyn kept the local
club's colors flying high when
he and his wife, Helen, and
,Art and Bernice Cann emerged
victorious in all three of their
games in the 11:00 a,m, draw.
Jermyn, who lost the men's
first draw last week by a single
point on the last end, had two
similar games, Saturday, but
came through to win them both,
He was Pitted against Dr.
Bill Lawson of Listowel in the
opener and the two teams
staged a nip and tuck battle
And were tied 8.8 coming home.
Jermyn had last rock On the
final encl•, and after Lawson
failed to take out the local
skip's shot, they won 9.8 with
Jermyn not throwing his final
stone,
They had an easier task in
the second match and whipped
a St. Thomas entry 8.4 to send
than into the final game
against Bill Ball's Staforth en-

Three Exeter rinks set a bad
example as hosts at the club's
second annual mixed bonspiel,
Saturday, Winning first place
in both draws and placing sec-
ond in one.
Dick Jermyn and Ken Otte-
well skipped their foursomes
to three straight wins to keep
the' major prizes in Exeter,
while Si Simmons's rink lost
only one game to place second
in the first draw,
Both winners had close calls
in their championship quest,
as Ottewell had to overcome
big leads in two of his three
games, while Jermyn was tied
up on two occasions on the last
end.
In the 9:00 a,m, draw, Otte-
well started off With a close
10.8 win ever a London entry
skipped by Archie Wright,
Wright started off in high gear
and- scored five points on the
first end, but Ottewell came
right 'back to, even the count
the second and staged a nip
and Luck battle right to the
finish, with each squad winning
four of the eight drifts
The Ottewell foursorne had
an easier game in their second
outing, winning 11.6 over John
Stang of Bt. Thomas,
They concluded their play
with a 10,3 .win over Jerry
Carey's squad from Mitchell,
who had been Undefeated until
meeting the txetst rink.
Their two wins gave the lo-
cals a total of 24 .points, two
more than their nearest rivals,
the Carey squad from Mitchell,
who were beaten by Ottewell
in the final game

the Filly Bonspiel sponsored by
the Stratford Country club,
Wednesday,
Competing against other curl-
ers with five years' experience
or less, the local rink dropped
only one of their three xames
and ended up with a plus of
nine.
A Scaforth rink had an iden-
tical score, but the localg were
placed ahead of them with
their aggregate of 25, compared
to the 18 scored by the. Sea-
forth entry.
The local rink .consisted of:
Marj Pollen, lead; Hilda Smith,
second; Lois Moven, Vices
skip and Cathy Southcott, Skip.
They dropped their opening
contest by an 8.4 margin to a.
Listowel entry, but bounced
hack to post a close 6.5 margin
over a team from the London
Highland Club. „
The locals finished off- the
day with a convincing 15-6 tri-
umph user Strathroy.

Last Friday night's Exeter
Teen Town dance went over
exceptionally well with a rec-
ord-hop in the gymnasium of
the Exeter Arena.

sey and Brenda Brenner for
the fine chaperoning job.
Square Dancing
Square dancing will continue
this Friday night in the Exe-
ter Public School gym. All pub-
lic school children are invited
to attend. There was a good
crowd out last week so if you
haven't, come out and join in
the Nil. Dancing starts at 7:30
p.m.
Minor Bowling
Things are in full swing at
the Exeter Bowling Lanes as
far as the local minor howling
