William IL Edighoffer, 77,
former assessor of Hay Town-
ship, died at his residence,
Zurich, Friday, December 29.
He was born in Hay Town-
ship and lived there all his life,
retiring to Zurich sever al
months ago.
Besides being assessor of
Hay Township for many years,
he acted as a commissioner in
the Province of Ontario.
Surviving is one sister, Miss
Matilda Edighoffer, London.
Funeral service was conduct-
ed by Rev, A. M. Amacher at
the Westlake funeral home on

has :Accepted a call to a larger
congregation in Fort William,
The transfer will become effec-
tive March 1.
Mr. Van Eek was the first
permanent pastor of the Exeter
church erected in 1955 under
the leadership of Rev. George
Hoyteina, Clinton. My, Van Eck
came here as a candidate for
the ministry from Westminster
Theological Seminary, Phila-
delphia, and was subsequently
ordained,
During his pastorate, mem-
bership in the local church has
increased from 42 to 57 fami-
lies,
Mr. Van Eek and his wife
have three children, Calvin,
Jane and Esther. Their new
charge in Fort William is a 10-
year-old congregation with 140
families,

1878, son of Henry Golding and

Kenchen of Owen Sound. She
died in 1959.
He was first elected to the
House of Commons in a 1932
by-election, after a long ses-
sion of public service in Sea-
forth. He was a member of
Seaford). Town Council from
1916 to 1921, and mayor from
1921 to 1929.

Sen. Golding was appointed
deputy chairman of the com-
mittees of the whole House in
March, 1947, and served in that
post until 1949, when he was
called to the Senate, tinder

King, he was for many years
chairman of the Liberal party

and House of Commons.

prominent member of commit-
