Scout Master Earl Carling,
last Thursday attended a
Scouter Club meeting for Hur-
on district, held in the Clinton
air school, to arrange :a pro-
gram of activities for the com-
ing season.
Wiener roast
The Lucart-Clandeheye Ex-
plorers opened their fail season
with a Wiener roast supper,
last Monday after school at the
home of honorary counsellor,
Mrs, Murray Hodgins, with 25
girls present. Mrs. Hodgins
was assisted by another hon-
orary counsellor, an. Calvin
Haskell, arid at 6 pan, by the
two counsellors, Rose Reving-
ton and Barbara Marshall.

hunt and skit.

rived for the supper, after
which Mrs. Hodgins conducted

WA presents choir gowns
The new choir gowns were
dedicated in the United Church
on Sunday morning at a spe-
cial service conducted by the
Rev. D. M. Guest.
Taking part in the service
was the WA president, Mrs.
Earl Heist, who, in presenting
the gowns, remarked that they
added beauty and 'dignity to
the appearance of the choir.
Mr. Sam Skinner, clerk of the
session, received the gowns and
expressed appreciation to the
ladies for the gift.
The annual Rally Day service
will be observed in the United
Church Sunday morning.
Woman's Missionary Society
The Day of beginning Again
was the theme of the worship
service at the meeting of the
Woman's Missioary Society in
the .schoolroorn of the church
on Tuesday evening. Assisting
with the devotions were !Mrs.
Earl Heist, :Mrs. George Hicks,
Mrs. Arthur McFalls" and Mrs.
Fred Bowden.
A solo was sung by Mrs.
Ross McFalls with piano ac-
companiment by Mrs. John
McAllister, Mrs. Lorne Hicks
was the pianist; for the service.
"Churches for New Times"
is the, topic for study and the
•two new books, "Signals for the
Sixties" and "Hasten the Day",
were introduced. The work of
the church is compared to
travel along the highway in
that we meet traffic signs and
although. the .church must go
slowly at some points there is
never a stop sign for the effect-
ive witness of the people who
are the Christian chureh.
Mrs. Ebner Powe presided
for the business. The hostesses
were Mrs, D. M. Guest, Mrs,
R. Shoebottom and Miss Flos-
sie Davey,

arrived home last week fol-
lowing a two weeks' vacation
at the home of their daughter
and son-in-law, S/L and Mrs.
J. Andrew and family, in Ed-
monton.

joyed the trip.
