Last Tuesday evening while
visiting a Lucan friend, Mrs,
Annie Fairles fell in the house.
She cut her right hand, requir-
ing several stitches and also
cracked a bone in her right
hip (her god hip). She was
taken to St. Joseph's Hospital
on Wednesday. where it was
necessary to insert a pin on
Thursday.
At present she is in great
pain but the doctors hope she
will be able to go to her daugh-
ter's in a month and be able
to return, to Lucan in two
months. Mrs. Fairies has had
several broken bones before.
Orientation Day
Last Tuesday was Orientation
Day at Medway for Lucan
Grade* 8 pupils, when they
were tested in general know-
ledge, English and mathemat-
ics. (One pupil, Ann George,
daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. H.
George received a 100.% mark
in English.
.kThe pupils were given a free
lunch, taken on a tour of the
school and given an opportunity
to participate in the sport
events in the afternoon.

..For the ninth year Miss Una
area Sach took the girls to the
river from 4 to 6 p.m. where
a number of games were en-
joyed around the camp fire.
Unfortunately a shower of
ram prevented the "pat -out" of
hot dogs, watermelon and soft
drinks. However, they were en-
joyed in the church school-
room when the ram chased
them home. Here they were
joined by the other two counsel-
lors, Rose Revington and Barb-
ara Marshall.

Association again sponsored a
graduation banquet for Grade
their parents, and pests.
The school made a splendid
showing this year, .25 of a class
of 26, being successful and
eight taking honors. All but
ono (David George) were pres-
ent Friday night at the ban-
quet, which was 'held in the
Anglican church basement.

It wasn't until the travellers
arrived home that they learned
that the day after they left,
six-year-old John had broken
his right arm when he jumped
off a teeter-totter and had to
be taken to Victoria .Hospital.
'Unfortunately X-rays showed it
was not knitting properly and
the day' before their arrival
home the arm had to be re -
broken and set again.

A splendid crowd was out to
the Legion. Auxiliary bingo
Thursday evening but the jack
pot will remain $175 in 57 calls
as no one was successful in
winning it,
Mrs. Pat Crudge of Lucan
won the $5 consolation prize.

was split between Mrs, E. Dut-

Mrs. E. Davidson of Exeter

Mrs. Lloyd Ford. of Exeter the
full card prize.

dies in garage

Murray Emerson Dixon, 48,
was found dead on Friday,
Jime 23 in the McGillivray
Township farm garage of his
nephew, Andrew Dixon, RR 2
Ailsa Craig, with whom he
lived.
Surviving are two brothers,
Earl and Wilfred, both of RR 2,
Ailsa Craig; two sisters, Mrs,
Jack (Olive) Rotten, Gorric
and Mra. George (Laura) Lec-
kie, Waterloo.
Funeral services were held at
the Murdy 1 u n e r al home,
Ltican, on "Menday, June 26

of history and geography for
the past six years. Mr, Willis
took as his theme, "Gradua-
tion is also a Commencement,"
He stressed the old adage
"The journey of a 1,000 miles
begins with one step". Ile end-

yielded.
There is always one flyfor
every ointment. The evening's
"fly" was having to report
that, owing to change of man-
agers, the graduation pins did
not arrive. However, Mrs,
Engel did pin a ribbon cor-

chase of books, was presented

vised there will be another
delay in the submission of the
preliminary report on sewer-
age for the village,

Mrs. Paton was Worthy Mis-
tress for six years and has been

years. She gave a resume of
some of the interesting things
accomplished since being insti-
tuted on June 18, 1921. with the
RW Provincial Grand Secre-
tary, Mrs. Lavine Rowe, To-
ronto, presiding with the degree
team from Edith. Cavell, Lon-
don, assisting.
Following the meeting over
50 guests met in the banquet
room in the basement of Holy
Trinity Anglican Church, Lu -
can.
