A special meeting of the
Kinsmen was held at the sum-
mon cottage of Kinsman Bill
Fuss at Elm Heights, near St.
.Joseph, Thursday evening when
a committee was appointed
composed of Harold Knight,
chairman; Jack Drysdale, Ross
Jinks and John ileal, to inter-
view various organizations in
the village with the purpose of
laying plans .for a swimming
pool. The committee will call
another meeting after they get
their findings.
The meeting was presided
over by president 13111 Clement
who Balled the special meeting
which bad a 100''i• attendance,
A barbecue was held outside
on the lawns.

Ann Aikenhead of •Brucefield,
widow of Hugh Aikenhead,
were held. Monday, June 26
from the Ball and Mutch Fu-
neral. Home, Clinton, with in-
terment in. Baird's cemetery,
•Stanley Township.
A lifelong resident of Bruce -
field area Mrs, Aikenhead, 84,
died. Saturday at the Parkhill
'Nursing Home.
Surviving are three daugh-
ters: Mrs. Abe (Janet) Zapfe,
Byron; Hiss Margaret Aiken -
head, London; Mrs. Anna Ald-
winckle, Bruce -field; one sister,

treasurer, who both tendered
their resignations recently.

cups and plaques, in various

joyeda bus trip to Detroit
where they visited Greenfield
Village, Ford Museum, and the
zoo.
Schools taking the trip were

Thirty-seven members of
Hensall Women's Destitute en-
joyed 'a bus trip to Brantford
on Monday where they toured
the Alexander Graham Bell
Homestead noting the different
types of phones from the time
of invention.
It was here that the 'concep-
tion of the telephone took place
during the summer visit of
Alexander Graham Bell to his
father's residence in 1874, and
on August 10, '1876 ' the first
long distance telephone call
was made between. Brantford
and Paris, Ontario, They had
lunch in the ' park adjoining
the building.
The next stop was at the
Museum where the rooms of
Indian, pioneer and :firemen's
equipment was something to
see.
Next they went through Mo-
hawk Chapel built in 1785, the
first protestant church in On-
tario, The timbers were cut at
Paris, Ontario, and floated
down the Grand river to the
chapel, The bell outside the
door, the first in Upper Can-
ada. was cast in London. Eng-
land in 1786. The red carpet
in the centre aisle was used
in 1939 by King George and
Queen Elizabeth during their
visit to Brantfor cl and the gold
carpet, in the sanctuary was in
Westminster Abbey during the
crowning or Queen Elizabeth

wood; the finest in Canada.

A short visit was made to
the Fairfield Museum on the
way to Windsor.. This museum
is under the supervision of the
United Church of Canada and
is the site of the first Christian
Indian village in the country.
Lunch was eaten at a park in
Windsor.
The girls spent over three
hours at the zoo after which
the bus came back by way of
Port Huron. The 9th Sarnia.
Guide Company and. Brownie
Pack treated. the Hensall
Guides and Brownies to supper
in a park in the city.
The girls arrived home short-
ly after 9 p,m,., a tired but
happy group.
