SHDHS promotes
Eighty-four percent of the
students at South Huron Dis-
trict High School have been
promoted, it was announced
this week.
A total of 464 were successful
in their examinations while 88
were asked to repeat.
Highest passing percentage
was in grade nine which posted
an 85.6 mark. The percentage
in grade 10 was 81.6, in grade
11. 84.9 and in grade 12, 84.

The 64 grade eight students
of Exeter Public School were
feted at a graduation dinner
and presentationin the Legion
Hall, Wednesday evening,
Hosts for the banquet were
meinbers of the. Home. and
School Association. Principal
Arthur Idle and teachers Mrs,
Donald Jory and Mrs, Andrew
Hamilton were among the
guests.
The graduates were presented
with pins by H & S President
Mrs. Peter Durand. Graduation
certificates were presented by
Mrs. Jory,
Speaker was Lew Short, di-
rector of development for
Wells Academy, London, and a
CFPL-TV announcer,
Mr. Short urged the gradu-
ates to get as full an educa-
tion as possible and he stressed
the necessities of determina-
tion, attitude, and personality
in achieving the goal of fur-
ther education.
He also stressed to the gra-
duates that "it isn't important
hew many brains you have but
how you use them," He ad-
vised thein to make use of
Bruce Cann, each broke a
finger.
Sylvia broke her thumb on
the left hand while playing ball
and. Kathy fell hitting a tree
root breaking her little finger

Pupils visit zoo
Grade 7 of Exeter Public
School visited the Detroit Zoo
on Monday. The 80 pupils
were taken in. two busses ac-
companied by Mrs. Lawrence
Wein and Mr. Carl Mills. They
returned by way of Port
Huron.
