An egg with unusually deep
and numerous ridges in its
shell has been on display in
The T -A window. it was pro-
duced by a bird in the flock of
Charles Browning, • Crediton.
The ridges are -caused by
contraction of muscles in the
tract of a particularly fit hen,
according to Charles Shane,
Hillcrest SL, poultry production
inspector with the federal dep't
of ag,riculture. Although ridges
are not uncommon, "this egg
has deeper ridges and more
Of them than any I've seen be-
fore," he commented.
The ridges are something
like' those found in 2 pumpkin,
although not so regularly
spaced.
