' GOLF COURSE OPENS SATURDAY—The Exeter Golf Course being developed by Allan Westcott on the St. Marys road will be open for play on a temporary basis , this Saturday. Memorial Softball League action. The game was 'originally scheduled for St. Thomas but due to bad weather it was switchedto the Centralia dia- mond. The loss was the second of the year of Centralia against one victory. The airmen were oulhit in the ball game 84 and St, Thomas made their hits pay off for an equal number of runs. The teams committed. a total of seven errors with 5t Thomas booting two and Cen- tralia five. Al Wiper started the game for Centralia before he was relieved in the top of the] eighth by Lennox. Anderson was the winning pitcher for St. Thomas and he helped his own cause by picking, 4tp two hits and driving in an equal number of runs. Warren of St Thomas also had a good day at the plate with three singles, knocking in two runs. Mattis also drove in two tallies when he belted a home run with a man on base. Centralia limited ,5t. The game, which was played on Wednesday, June 7, was the first of the year for both clubs. The Kinsmen were group champions last year while Crediton is a new entry into the league, • "flinger" Bell was the win- ning pitcher and he went the distance in posting his first win of the season. Slaght and England made up Crediton's battery and the whole Crediton team showed up well against last year's champs. Drop, second to Belgrave Aub Farquhar's softball nine lost their second game in a row to Belgrave Thursday night when they came out on the short end of an 11-4 count. The game was played in Hen - sail and gave Exeter a record of one win and two losses in Huron Softball League action. Belgrave only outhi.t Farqu- har's boys nine to seven but they managed to bunch them for 11 runs while Exeter could only manage four. Jim Coultis ably handled the pitching chores for Belgrave and most of the Exeter boys had trouble getting to him for base hits.
