Driver test
fee raised
Fees for driver instruction
permits, learners' licenses, in
Ontario have been doubled and
a vision test and a rules of the
road and sign recognition test
are required.
The transport department!
has raised the cost of permits!
to $2 instead of the current $1
levy.
At the same time, the charge
for the first examination for
an operator's or chauffeur's
license will be increased from
$1 to $3.
The rules of the road and
sign recognition examination
are written but simple, accord-;
ing to the dep't. A. stiffer writ-
ten test and road test are
given before an operator's or
chauffeur's license is granted.
The increased fees are neces-
sary because the province's
new system of driver examina-
tion is more costly to operate, 1
the official said.
Since April 1 all driver tests
have been conducted by full-
time specially trained civil ser-
vice examiners.

Buy an annuity and live
Financial insecurity can lead to a barren and lonely
existence for the older person. Those years after
60 can also bring the fear of out -living capital
and the worry of managing the savings of a lifetime.
The result—often severe stresses that can be
dangerous to both physical and mental health.
People who buy annuities buy freedom frons worry
and fear. Our annuitants find that a regular income
guaranteed for life brings peace of mind, helps make
those sunset years a rich and satisfying experience.
And we know that many live to a ripe old age.
Whether you are 30 and buying an annuity in advance
or you are 70 and want payments to start now
there's an annuity designed to bring you peace of
mind. The Man from Manufacturers would be pleased
to give you the complete story. Be sure to ask him
about the favourable tax picture.
