Extensive ,alterations and _a large addition,
which almost doubles the size of the Bank of Mont

rears Exeter building, will be completed this week
end, Charles L. Smith, the Manager, has announced.
Open house will be held at the branch all
next week, Visitors will be shown the new features
and treated to refreshments in the staff rooms,
Now fully au -conditioned, the B of M .office
:has been enlarged by some 1,500 square feet with
construction of a large addition at the rear of the
building and the existing part of the structure has
been modernized to match the new extension.
A prominent feature of the renovated bank-
ing room is a streamlined counter, which has ac-
commodation for five tellers in low wickets. There
were four wickets before.
For safety -deposit -box customers, three pri-
vate coupon booths have been installed close to a
new steel -and -reinforced -concrete vault, replacing
the previous two booths.
Additional fire -proof storage space, for the
B of M's books and records, and new staff rest
rooms are located in the basement..
Other new features in the bank include flu-
orescent lighting, and non-skid rubber -tile flooring.
0. Roy Moore, London architects, drew up
the plans for the alterations, which were carried
out by Toten Construction •Company, also of Lon-
don,
Opened in 1874
Now in its eighty-seventh year, the bank
established here in February, 1874, when Exeter's
population was only .about 800. It was originally an
office of the Molson's Bank, which later merged
\vith the B of M.
The first premises were located at the cor-
ner of Main and Huron streets. In 1902, new quar-
ters were acquired near the intersection of Main
and John streets and business was conducted there
until the B of M's present premises were occupied
in 1943.
They include, from left to right, Hank Gosar, Dennis Hockey, Jack Glover, Don ,
Wright, who scored the high triple in the grouping, and Bill Farquhar.—T-A K really iumpin'

Declare champions
Ten champions were named
in the two-day vent, with Teri
Laughton and Jack Glover win-
ning the overall champion-
ships. Both athletes amassed
18 points out of a possible
total of 20. •
Ironically, en a day when
the high jump records were
falling, these were the only
events the two champions
failed to win. Glover finished
second. behind Boyle and Terri
was defeated by Betty Thomp-
son. And, it was Boyle and
Miss Thompson who finished as
runners-up to the two cham-
pions in their respective divi•'
cions.
As usual, competition ran
high in the meet, and in some
events, as many as 40 young
athletes entered. In some di-
visions, two •ended up in a tie
for top spot and •a flip of the
coin decided the winner. Where
time permitted, special events
were run off to break the tie.
The champions were as fol-
lows:
