• Th.e minister said, that the
.?•nill new regulations related to all
vehicles 'operated by, or tinder
eopteact to. sdhool boards, and
vehiclesused solely for the
purposes of transporting chil-
dren to and from school.
The..regulations require that
all such vehicles are clearly
marked with signs reading,
"School Bus." All vehicles,
1 when used solely for trans-
portation of children, shall be
painted yellow with black
trim.
The regulations also require
alt vehicles carrying Len or
more children to have the fol-
lowing safety equipment at all
times; Mr. Rowntree conti-
nued. They must have an in-
terior mirror; tire chains or
snow tires on rear wheels ex-
cept duals; a speedometer;

such a way as to prevent the
entry of exhause fumes; two

frosting device; inside lights;
an axe br clawbar and a fire
extinguisher, dependable tires;
and emergency exits.
The minister added that all
vehicles used as school buses
would require a certificate of
, mechanical fitness, being filed
twice a year.
In respect to the require-
mentt•for the driver of school
buses, Mr. Rowntree said that
all applicants must be 21 years
• of age or over and would be
required to pass' a special dri-
ving test. A higher standard
of profjciency .,would be re-
quired sat thd 'test, with added
; emphasis on knowledge of the
" rules of the road and sign rec-
ognition. The test would also
contain references to bus and
equipment maintenance. The
driving test must be taken in
an actual school bus.
The applicants for school bus
operator's licences would be
required to file a medical cer-
tificate of physical fitness and
a standard of vision higher
than is required for an ordi-
nary driver,
The minister said that he
thought these new regulations
would do much to ensure the
safer operation of our school
buses and the safety of their
valuable cargoes.

In his farm house at BR 5
Brantford, Mr. Cameron said
that he had no involvement in

was not Helen.
"I have never heard of any
report. of anyone thinking they
saw Helen after her disappear-

"I knew Arthur well for be

to ours. That i$ how he met
Helen. They were married in

Cameron.
Arthur Kendall has been re-

which time a date for the pre-
Iiininary hearing of •the charge
will probably be set.
• The charge against Kendall
