Church was filled on Thursday
evening for the Sunday School
Christmas entertainment with
the Rev. D. M. Guest as Nihair-
m an.
A program of choruses, reci-
tations, solos, instrumentals, dia-
logues, musical selections and a
Christmas worship service con-
ducted by the members of two
classes, was well received.
To climax the evening's en-
tertainment Santa Claus arrived
to distribute the gifts and treats.

A large congregation attended
the service on Sunday morning
when Jtev. Guest chose for his
topic "Christmas is Wonderful."
During the service the rite of
baptism was administered tq
four babies: baby daughter of

To Gasoline Servic e Station Operators
VILLAGE OF
BY-LAW NO. 66
By -Law of the Corporation of the Village of Grand
Bend respecting the closing of that class of shops
engaged in the retail gasoline service industry as de-
fined in the Industrial Standards Act during certain
hours.

Whereas on the 23rd. day of November, 11159, an ap-
plication was presented to the council of the village of
Grand Bend praying for the passing of a by-law under
Part 2 of The Factory, Shop and Office Building Act,
R.S.O. 1950, Chapter 126, requiring the closing of retail
gasoline service stations, gasoline pumps or outlets in
the retail gasoline service industry as defined in the
Industrial Standards Act, situate within the Corpora-
tion of the Village of Grand Bend as hereinafter set
out.
And whereas pursuant to subsection 8 of section 85
of the Factory, Shop and Office Building Act, Statutes
of Ontario 1932, Chapter 35, now subsection 8 of
section 83 of the Factory, Shop and Office Building
Act, R.S.O. 1950, chapter 126, the council of the Vil-
lage of Grand Bend being satisfied that the above-
mentioned petition is signed by not less than three-
quarters in number of the occupiers of the shops with-
in the municipality belonging to the classes of shops
to tisrhich such 'application relates,
NOW TI-IER)FORE THE CORPORATION OF THE
VILLAGE OF GRAND BEND BY THE COUNCIL
THEREOF ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. Pursuant to the Factory, Shop and Office Building
Act and subject to the provisions of Sections 3 and 4
hereof, all gasoline service stations, gasoline pumps
and outlets in the retail gasoline Service Industry as de-
fined in the Industrial Standards Act, within the Village
of Grand Bend shall close at 7.00 o'clock P.M. and
remain closed until 7.00 o'clock A,M. the following day.
and remain closed all day Sunday from 12.01 A.M.
Sunday until '7.00 o'clock A.1VI. the following morning,
and Wednesday afternoon from 12.00 o'clock noon
until 7.00 o'clock A.M. the following morning.
GRAND BEND
With the exception of one garage each week as pro.
vided by the attached schedule, which may remain open
during that specific week at its operator's pleasure.
2. Subject to the provisions of Section 3 and 4 hereof,
every occupier or person in charge of a retail gasoline
service station, gasoline pumps and outlets in the retail
gasoline service industry as defined in the Industrial
Standards Act, within the Village of Grand Bend, shall
close the same and keep the salve closed as required
by the provisions of Section 1.
3. •The council may issue permits authorizing any
such shop for which a permit is issued to be and reg
main open, not withstanding Sections 1 and 2 of this
by-law.
4. Such permits shall be issued by the Council of the
Corporation of. the Village of Grand Bend, upon lists
to be provided in proper form by the Grand Bend
Branch of Garage Operators, and approved by the
Council, giving the names and addresses of the afore-
mentioned shops in the Village of Grand Bend to one
occupier of such shops each week in regular rotation
and so as to provide a reasonable distribution through-
out the whole Village of Grand Bend.
5. This by-law shall take effect on the date of the
final reading thereof and shall be subject to the pro-
visions of the Factory, Shop and Office Building Act.
6. For the purpose of giving publicly to this by-law,
the saine shall be published once in a local newspaper
having circulation over the affected area net later
than one week after the passing of this by-law.
7. Every person who contravenes any of the provi-
sions of this By -Law shall, upon conviction thereof,
forfeit • and pay at the discretion of the convicting
Magistrate, a penalty not exceeding (exclusive of costs)
the suin of Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) Thr each
offence, and any such fine, penalty and costs shall be
recoverable according to the Summary Convictions Act
of Ontario.

Read a third time this 16th day of December, 1950.
