card secretary, Mrs. Herb Wein;
pianist, Mrs. Edgar Restemayer;
auditors, Mrs. Edgar Restemayer •
and Mrs. Lorne Becker.
Librarians, Mrs. Rudolph Mil-
ler and Mrs. Elgin Rader; Syno-
dical affairs reporter, Mrs. Leo-
pard Schenk; reporter, Mrs, Er-
vin Rader.
Thirty-seven m-rabers and
two visitors were present. A gift
of $5 each was given to the two
students from the church attend-
ing Concordia College in Alberta.
Twenty-five dollars were donated
to the Lutheran H..ur. Two dozen
new chairs were purchased for
the church basement. A gift of
$36.00 was given to the Chil-
dren's Aid at Goderich. The La-
dies Aid will serve lunch and
give a program at the auxiliary
meeting of South Huron Hospital
in February.
As this was also the Christmas
meeting a short program fol-
lowed with each group giving a
number. Pastor and Mrs, K. L.
Zorn were presented with a gift
as well as Mrs. Jacob Schroeder,
the oldest member and also a
charter member.
Pastor Zorn conducted closing
devotions on the theme "A
Christian Christmas.
Successful bingo
The bingo sponsored by Dash-
wood Men's Club. Friday evening
was well attended Iris Becker
was winner of the door prize.
Men's Club
Dashwood Men's Club held
their regular supper meeting at
the Village Inn, Grand Bend, on
Monday evening with an attend-
ance of 45 members.
President Alvin Walper intro-
duced the guest speaker, Rev.
Brea DeVries of Exeter who
gave a talk an ..onditions at and
after the war of his former
country. He was thanked by Mr.
William Haugh, former presi-
dent.
Glen Webb was presented with
a gift by Reinhold Miller for his

gifts donated by the merchants.:

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Tookey,
Mr. Tom Bean and Mr. Ben Kel-
ly of Luean spent :Sunday eve-
ning with Mr. and Mrs. Amiel
Fisher and family.
Mr. and Alm Leonard. Reste-
mayer and family were Sunday
guests with Mr, and Mrs. Ervin
Rader and family.
Although Mr. Wallace Wein is
still a patient in Victoria HOS-
pital, London, his condition is
'much improved.
Lions plan
teen dance
At the Exeter Lions Club sup-
per meeting at Armstrong's
Restaurant Thursday evening it
was decided to sponsor a New
Year's Eve Teen Town dance to
the extent of $100.
Glen Mickle, Ross Taylor and
Larry Heideman, representing
the Exeter Recreational Council,
were guests of the club and out-
lined the activities of the coun-
cil and its financial standing. A
grant of $300 to the council was
donated by the club.
Winners of the five bursaries
provided by the Lions Club to
SHDHS students were announced
as follows: Grade 9, Judy Wil-
son; Grade 10, John Etherington;
Grade 11, David Noakes; Grade
12, Jane Horton; Grade 13, Paul
It was decided to withdraw
the December 24 meeting and
donate the cost of the supper
to CARE.
Draw prizes were won by"
Norm Walper, Ted Pooley and
H. Strang.
Flt. Lt. T. Hannigan and Doug-
las Pryde were guests of the
club.
President Ken Hockey was in
charge of the meeting and a
sing song led by John Goman
preceded the supper. •
In 1958 Canada enjoyed 23.7
per cent of the world trade in
wheat, compared to an average
of 40 per cent in the years be-
tween the two World Wars.
