F M AIS T m 0 About 5members friends u a s and. f len s of .the Senior Citizens were royal- ly entertained on Thursday ev'e- nin'*, Novenber26 in the Cont. munity Centre by the Women's Institute, A turkey dinner was served and a program presented by dif- ferent members of Institute and young people, opened by sing- song of Christmas carols. The welcome address was given by the president, Mrs, Ted Lamport, and trumpet duets by Dennis Lamport and Ronnie Weber. The guest speaker for the eve- ning was Rev. A. M. Schlenker, Other numbers were a duet by Marlene King and Doreen Kenny; accordion selections by Judy Lamport; reading by Mrs. Gar - don Morlock and piano instru- mental by Alrs, Emmery Fehr- !ler. ah -ner. The person \vho had the lucky chair with a Christmas seal under it was Mrs. A. Wolfe who received a gift, and it was also the birthday of Mr, Jim Brock; the wedding anniversary of the nearest to date were Mr. and Mrs. Everett Fahrner who also received a gift, A vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Garfield Hill, seconded by Mrs. M, Foist. Personal items The Builder's Class of the EUB church held their Christ- mas party with a turkey ban- quet on Wednesday evening in the Sunday School rooms with Mrs. W. Redden native of Exeter Mrs. W. J. Hedden, 89, of Bel- mont, Man,, the former Amelia Cudmore of Exeter, died on Thursday, November 19 in .Lake- view Residence, Killarney, Man. Mrs. Hedden was born in Exe- ter November 17, 1870 and went to Crystal City, Man. with her husband in 1903 where they lived for over 40 years. She was a member of the Methodist church, later the Unit- ed church, had been an active member of the WA, WMS, and a' life member of the WCTU. Surviving are her husband, William; one son, Mervyn, Brant- ford; one sister, Mrs, Alma Wan- less; Vancouver, B.C.; two grand- children and two ,great grand- children. Funeral service was held Mon- day in Belmont United Church with burial in the local ceme- tery. Thelma Whistler of Detroit visit- ed Friday with Mrs. William Bender and family of Crediton. The meeting of the EUB Ladies' Aid will be held on Thurs- day evening with election of of- ficers. 'Mrs. Robt, Hilborn and babe, of London, is spending a couple of weeks with her mother, Mrs. Ezra Faist and Nola. Mr. Hil- born spent the weekend here. Miss Tillie `Wein of London has been visiting with her broth- er, Mr, and Mrs, Chris Wein and Mr. and Mrs, Jos, Virley and family for a couple of weeks, Mrs. Ross Tuckey and chil- dren of Exeter spent a few days over the weekend with her father, Mr. Albert Gaiser. Mr, William Gaiser Sr. who is in Victoria Hospital, London, underwent an eye operation last Wednesday. Dr. Lulu Gaiser is spending most of the time with him. Mr. and Mrs. William Woodall and daughters, of Windsor, visit- ed with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Woodall over the weekend, During the service in the Unit- ed Church an ,Sunday morning Randy William Gordon, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Yearly, received the rite of baptism by Rev. R. Hiltz. Mrs. Annie Finkbeiner, of Zur- ich, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Finkbeiner. Mr. and Mrs. Art Machell visited on Sunday at Glencoe with"friends. Mr. Carl Radford and Shirley and Mrs. Samuel Lamport spent Sunday at Detroit with Mr, and Mrs. George Vincent. Celebrate wedding anniversary Last Saturday evening Mr, and Afis. Alf Tilley celebrated their 34th anniversary of married life, at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Tilley at Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crocker and son of London and Mr. and Mrs. Don Jory, their daughters, were present, also some friends from Exeter and Crediton. The evening was spent in playing crokinole, followed by lunch.
