Mr. and Mrs. William Thom- son of Exeter and Mrs. William Rohde called at the Haskell fun, eral home in Lucan on Friday afternoon where the late Mrs. Bert Jones of Glendale lay at rest. Mr. and Mrs: William Thomson of Exeter, Mr. and Mrs. William Bolide, Douglas, Glenn and Cal- vin were Friday evening guests with Mrs. Henry Rohde of Exe- ter. Mir. and Mrs. Chester Merkley, lIr. and Mrs. Earl Johnston of London, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cann and Ray were Saturday evening guests with Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Hodgert. Mr, and Mrs. Ernest Pym, and Mr. and Mrs. William Ferguson were guests at the 20th wedding Mrs. E. L. Paton active in .groups Mrs. Gladys Mae Paton, wife of Emerson Lewis Paton, of Blanshard Township, died sud- denly early Friday morning at St. Marys Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health for over a year. - She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Sheppard of Park- hill and was born in McGillivray Township on July 26, 1908. She was married to Emerson Paton on September 18, 1929. They re- sided in McGillivray Township until moving to Con. 3 Blanshard Township 17 years ago. She was a member of Kirkton United Church and was an ac- tive 'member of the Kirkton Women's Institute, Woodham LORA and St. Marys Hillcrest Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are her husband; daughter, Mrs. Ray Morrison (Pauline) St. Marys; sons,. Ron- ald, Blanshard Township, Lyle of Stratford and five grandchil- dren; also her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Sheppard; Parkhill; sisters, Mrs. Gordon Fraser (Grace) Parkhill; Mrs, David Holland (Elsie) and Mrs. Dun- can McNaughton (Thelma) both of Blanchard Township; bro- thers Harry of Stephen Township and Murray of McGillivray Township. The late Mrs. Paton rested at the Marriott funeral home, St. Marys, where the funeral ser- vice was held on Monday, Nov- ember 30. Rev. T: Elliott offi- ciated and interment was in St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye. On Sunday evening the Hill- crest Lodge held a .memorial service conducted by N.G. Mrs. J. Roberts, Mrs. Roland Mahaffy Mrs. Mel Lightfoot and Mrs, Jim. Hart who sang "Beyond the Sunset", with 46 members tak- ing part. The LOBA service was taken by W.M. Mrs, Orville Jaques and Mrs, Ray Mills .with 40 Members attending. Pallbearers were Art Thomp- son, Russell, McAlpine, Fred Switzer, Archie Levey, Jack Wiles and Goldwyn Atkirson, Flower bearers were nephews, Jiro McNaughton, Earl Holland, ted. Mission Band At the November meeting of the Mission Band held on Sun- day morning during the church service, 37 members were pre- sent. Miss Joyce Mayer, presi- dent conducted the meeting. Mrs. Joe Kernick read the Christmas story. Mrs. William Rohde read a letter from Miss Aileen Ratz from Halifax where the Mission Band had sent ten ditty bags for newcomers to Can- ada and also a chapter from the, y oo .
