Mrs. L. Weiser
American citizen
Mrs. Lawrence A. Weiser, 52,
died suddenly at her farm home
on the Coursey Road, Concea-
eon 2, Biddulph, on Sunday,
November 22.
She lay at rest at the C. Has
kett and Son funeral home, Lu
can, where the Rev. J, P. Pres
conducted a service at 8.15 p.m
Monday, November 23.. She wa

Rose funeral home, Marine City
Mich., for funeral service and
interment.
Mrs. Weiser, the former Oliv
Louise Eggett was the daughte
of Mr. and Mrs. James Eggett
She was born in London but lived
for years in the States wher
she became an American cit
zen. Last spring Mr. Weise
bought the farm on the Coursey
Road.
Besides her husband she is
aurvived by two sons', Larry and
James, of Detroit.
Owing to the Masonic banquet
on Thursday night it was decided
to cut cancer dressing in the
Anglican Parish Hall on Tues-
day afternoon, Nov. 24 and make
dressings. Wednesday evening.

Lucan Explorers
The regular meeting of the Lu -
can Explorers was held in the
United Church school room last
Monday night with 22 members
present. The expedition opened
with games directed by Cheryl
Thompson.
Counsellor Rose Revington led
in the devotions and business.
Mrs. Sheridan Revington, presi-
dent of the afternoon WMS in-
stalled the officers: Chief Ex-
plorer, Dianne Cooper; recorder,
Cheryl Thompson and keeper of
the treasure, Louise Cochrane,
Counsellor Emma Langford told
the story "The Full Box." This
was followed by a sing -song led
by honorary counsellor, Iva Hod-
gins.

LUCAN meeting
At a meeting of the LUCAN
in the Community Centre last
Monday evening it was decided
to again award prizes for the
best decorated house in Lucan
but this year there will be four
prizes instead of three—a first,
a second and two 'thirds. The
value of each prize was not de-
cided at the meeting.
To open alleys
at first of year
Mrs. Jack Arnold hopes to
have her bowling alley, "The
Four Lanes" in operation by the
first of January. Where? In the
part of the J. B. Ready store
recently vacated by The Lucan'
Dry Goods. With such a central'
location her alley should be pop-
ular.
Muscular Dystrophy
The Boy Scouts, who on Nov.
7 worked so hard on their paper
drive, on Saturday distributed
literature and envelopes for this
week's national muscular dystro-
p,hy campaign.

Mrs. John Wyatt, 67, of Lon-
don, died suddenly in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London on Monday,
November 16. She lay at rest
in the Needham Memorial Chap-
el, London until Wednesday,
November 18 when funeral serv-
ices were held, with the Rev. F.
A. -Jewell of the Maitland Bap-
tist Church officiating. inter-
ment was in Mt. Pleasant ceme-
tery, London.
Besides her husband she is
survived by two daughters and
one son: Mrs. Alvin Kennedy
(Ruth), Mrs. Stanley Hunter
(Ethel) and John C. Wyatt, all
of • London; also one brother,
Leonard Beesom of London.
Mrs. Wyatt, the former Gert-
rude Mary Beeson, lived for a
number of years on Main St.,
Lucan in the house now occupied
by Mrs. Robert Holland and
fainily. (While here her son
married Miss Carol Dobbie next
door) Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt moved
to London two years ago. She
had a heart condition for years.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Frost,
Mrs, Meine Eizenga and Mrs.
J. A. Graham, her Lucan Pente-
costal friends, attended the fu-
neral. It'stime enough to say it,
when you know it to be true.

at cancer clinic
Every month some branch of
the Canadian Cancer Society en-
tertains the patients of the Can-
cer Clinic at Victoria Hospital
and provide S refreshments,

brated their 59th birthdays at
the home of the former last Fri-
day night, November 20.

Lucan boys see ice follies
Three Lucan Free Press de-
livery boys, Pat Egan, Gordie
Young and Roger Black, who
received their required quota of
new customers were among those
taken to see, the ice follies at
Detroit last Sunday.
They left Lucan at 8.45 a.m.
going by car to Port Huron and
then by bus to Detroit, arriving
back in Lucan at 11.30 p,m. The
boys were treated royally by The
Free Press and had a wonder-
ful day.

The hockey season, .swinging

days, the weatherman has not
kept pace. It's much easier on
the oil bill, but the mud tracked
in everywhere doesn't add to
the peace of mind of mother m
keeping the house and clothes
clean and tidy. liowever, such
is life,
if we may deviate from .our
immediate community, we'd like
to give Oakridge Acres Optimist
Club and the hoekey program
they. sponsor a little pat on the
back, With only about 35 mem-
bers, they sponsor and provide
hockey for some 250 boys from
Pee Wee to Juvenile — get up
about five o'clook Saturday
morning and have the lads on
the ice at the Luean Arena
at six -thirty.
This coming Saturday morn-
ing, theyare having the offi-
cial opening ceremony for •the
1959-60 season when they will
have four games Saturday morn-
ing in their "House League".
Among the potables to be pres-
ent for thh ceremony will be W.
A. Stewart, Member of the .On-
tario Legislature. It is expected
that CFPL and CFP'1.-TV will
be covering the ceremony. Every-
one is welcome to come out to
see the games, There is no
charge—it's all FREE; the time,
6;30 to 10:30.

comers who might be interested,
