Establish fourth poll
for northern section
An extra poll for Exeter has
been created by town council.
Bylaw regulating nomination
and election for the coming year
included the establishment of
the fourth poll in town for the
first time. The poll was created
for the section north of the
river to relieve residents there
of walking south of the bridge:
The poll has been established
at the residence of Mrs. Priscil-
la Hewitt. Deputy returning .of-
ficer will. be Norman Hackney
and Mrs. Rhoda Lutman will be
poll clerk, if an election is ne-
cessary.
Only ether change in polling
booths is the one for No. 1
which has been established at
the office of A. 0. Elliott, Main
street. It was in the former
Newton apartment building..
Complain about refuse
Items other than those origi-
nally intended to be picked up
for garbage collection are now
being put out by householders
for removal, Reeve McKenzie
asserted during discussion of fall
debris cleanup.
Leaves, flowers and other
loose material are causing the
crew to make many extra trips,
the reeve stated. Cost of the
service could increase consider-
ably if this continues.
A special pickup was ar-
ranged for October 29 and 30
for limbs, corn stalks and other
larger items whioh cannot be
burned.
In other business, council:
Declared Wednesday, Novem-
ber 11, a civic holiday.
Learned that 70 picnics had
been held at Riverview Park
during the past summer and an-
other 25 have been booked for
1960.
Approved plans for trimming
trees, la co-operation with the
PUC, during the winter time.
Set nomination and election
dates for November 27 and
December 7.
Heard Mayor Pooley state that
he had seen many towns during
his recent trip to the west but
none which compared to Exeter.
-"It was good to get home," he
said,
On a per capita basis Caned-
ians produce one-quarter fewer
goods and services than do U.S.
citizens. With things in this state
there can be no equality of
Canadian and American wages.
