was the theme of the meeting
held in the Sunday School rooms
on Thursday evening of the
Ladies' Aid and WSWS With
Zurich and Dashwood societies
as guests. There was a splendid
attendance.
Mrs. Emmery Fahrner had
charge of the program assisted
by Miss Npla Faist, Mrs, Leon-
ard Wein, Mrs. Roy Ratz and
Doris Swartz. Misses Nola Faist
and Doris Swartz rendered solos
and the study Chapter was taken
by the committee. A Spiritual
Life talk was given by Mrs. J.
Ratz; a trio by Zurich ladies;
a poem by Mrs. W. Becker of
Dashwood and a reading- by
Mrs. Amacher of Zurich, A sing-
song was enjoyed, led by Mrs.
E. Fahrner.
Business was taken by Mrs.
Ed. Hendrick. A letter of thanks
was read from, the former presi-
dent, Mrs. Art Gaiser, who was
remembered with a gift before
leaving for Exeter recently. A
committee was named to bring
in a slate of officers for next
meeting in December after which
a 'half hour of fellowship was
enjoyed.
A vote of thanks was voiced
by Mrs. J. Gascho of Zurich and
Mrs. M, Tiernan of Dashwood.

The Crediton United Church
Young People held their meet-
ing last Friday with 15 present.
Marlene King was in charge of
worship service.
The next meeting is to be held
an November 20. It will take the
form of a bowling party in Exe-
ter followed by lunch at the
home of Rev. R. S. Hiltz.
The meeting was brought to a
close by a recreation period fol-
lowed by lunch.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gaiser
and Mx. and. Mrs. Ivan Grigg
and Ricky of Dashwood attend-
ed the funeral of the late Harry
Wind last Thursday at Detroit.
Mrs. Lloyd Hey spent a few
days at London last week.
The trustees of the school area
attended the meeting and ban-
quet at Guelph last Wednesday.

vated and the grounds improved
for a community centre.
Mr. and Mrs. Mac Melville
visited in Nashville, Tennessee
last week and attended the
Grand Opera.
Militia from London were at
Camp Ipperwash over the week-
end for range practise.
The Roy Jewell. show recently
featured operations at the Thed-
tord Cold Stbinge.
Mack Van Overloop harvested
it No. 1 crop of tobacco on lot
26, concession 1—opposite John
Poutton and is packed for ship-
ment from Mt. Brydges. Addi-
tional buildings will be built
next spring.
Deer hunters are on the trek

A retaining wall of stone has
been built at the entrance to the
Finery Park.
Mr. and Mrs. John Dennis and
family have moved to the "Little
Clubhouse."
In the 1953-1958 period the
number of meters in natural gas
service in Canada increased
from 298,166 to 1,069,892.

who- spent the summer with their
daughter at Le Froy returned
home last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Woodall,
of Royal Oak, Mich, spent Sat-
urday with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs, Jos, Woodall.
Mr. William Bender returned
home from London hospital
much improved.
Mrs. Robt, IIillborn, of Lon-
don, spent a few days with her
mother, Mrs. Ezra Faist and
Kola, last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Green
spent Monday in town visiting
friends,
Mr. and Mrs, Ted Chambers
and Gloria were pleasantly sur-
prised on Friday evening when
the neighbors and friends gath-
ered at their home to bid them
farewell and presented them
with a table magazine rack com-
bined. They are moving to Exe-
ter this week.
Mr, and Mrs. Joseph Fink-
beiner spent Sunday and Mon-
day with the latter's sister, Mrs.
Beatrice Tate at Waterdwon.
The 'Women's Institute will
hold their next meeting in the
Community Hall on Wednesday
evening, 'November 18,
Mr. J. Clare Irvin of the Bank
of Montreal is on holidays and
Mr. Stephenson is taking his
place,
Mr. George Brown, Mrs. Or-
ville Brown and daughter Mar-
dell and Miss Corene Brown all
of Kilmanagh, Mich, spent a
few days with Mr. and Mrs.
Wellington Haist and Mr. and
Mrs. Emmery Fahrner and
friends.
Mr. and Mrs, Wellington Haist
attended the funeral of Mrs,
Margaret Weber at Kitchener
last Wednesday.
The bazaar and tea that was
held on Saturday by the United
Church WA was a decided suc-
cess. The tea table and all small
tables were decorated with
mums and all seemed to enjoy
themselves.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wade and
daughter, Heather Lynne, Miss
Margaret Bow.ering, of London,
visited with Mr. and Mrs, John
Wade on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Mitchell
spent Sunday at Teeswater.
Mrs. Laura Gaiser and daugh-
ter, Mrs. Wilbert Potter of Byron
and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Haist
of Dashwood were visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Emmery Fahrner
on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Clark and
boys, Jimmie and David, of De-
troit; and Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Schroeder of London were week-
end visitors with Mr. Francis
Clark.

Scout and Cub news
During the scout meeting on
Wednesday, October 28 badgel
work and games were carried
out,
A leaf identification contest ar-
ranged by Mr. A. Miller was
judged and was won by Larry
Taylor.
At a special investiture cere-
mony Mr. Carl Datars was in-
vested, prior to his appointment
as a Troop Scouter.
At Tuesday's Cub meeting the
following "new chums" were in-
vested as cubs: David Ander-
son, Robert Walters and Gary
Willert.
Movies were shown by the
Scouters.
Last Wednesday a liallowe'en
party was held, the guests being
the 1st Parkhill Guide Com-
pany.
After costume judging and
games, refreshments were served
and a short "sing -song" held.
Party arrangements were
made by Patrol Leader, Gary
Mathers and Second, Brad Ham-
ilton.
Meetings will be conducted by
scooters Earl Datars and John
Hood during the next six weeks,
due the absence of S. M. Peate
at Camp Borden.
Personal items
The Grand Bend United church
turkey dinner will be held on
November 18 starting at 5
o'clock.
Mrs. David Leigh and chil-
dren of Waterloo visited the
weekend with her parents, Mr.

served in the United Church Sun-
day morning when Cameron
Claire, son of Mr, and Mrs. Ar-
thur Heist, Thomas Wilson Grif-
fin, son of Mr, and Mrs. Griff
Thomas and Joanne Elizabeth,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Mau-
rice Webb were baptised.

toria Hospital, London.

Green Forest Lodge Thursday
were treated to one of the most
inspiring talks ever presented to
the club by Rev, .Brea DeVries,
Exeter,

took place during the last war.

reported that the new rink was
coming along as well as ex-
pected, and it was hoped that it
would be ready for skating this

The :annual Lions feather party
will be held in Grand Bend Le-
gion Hall on Monday, Decem-
ber 14,
The Hallowe'en party which
was sponsored by the Grand
Bend club and held in the Aldan
Theatre was reported to be a
huge success, thanks to Lion
President Bial Sturdevant, Em-
merson Desjardine, Fred Newt-
on, Henry Menard and Lee Jen-
nison. Compliments were for-
warded to Mrs. Bill Cochrane
and Mr. and Mrs. Gowdy for
acting as costume judges for the
occasion.
Dave, Wilson, who is a patient
in Sarnia Hospital.
Mrs. Alex Hamilton spent last
week with her son, Mr. and Mrs.
Barry Hamilton and Debbie, in
Ottawa.
Grand Bend Women's Institute
will hold the Home Economic
meeting on Thursday, November
19 with the roll call, the recipe
and sample of favorite cookies.
