The November meeting of the
WMS and WA of the United
Church was held at the home of
Mrs. Arthur Brophey with Mrs.
Elton Curls in charge of the
worship, speaking on the amal-
gamation of all women's or-
ganizations,
Mrs. L. Carts read the scrip-
ture and a duet was sung by
Mrs. W. Hicks and Miss Evelyn
Curts. Mrs. J. Geromette gave
a reading on Christian Steward-
ship. Mrs. H. Harlton stated that
the special bale for the mission
at Norway House, Manitoba,
was to be four gifts for girls 12
years, and boys' socks, any
size and any number.
-Mrs. J. Horner was in charge
of the WA meeting when plans
for the bazaar for November t4
were completed, the committees
to meet at the church on Thurs-
day evening.
It was decided to have the
Harmony Class decorate the
church for Christmas. Members
answered the roll with sug-
gestions for next year's pro-
gram.
Mrs, H. Harlton and Mrs. E.
Curts were appointed as a nomi-
nating committee to make a,re-
port at the December meeting.
Mrs. Jim Eagleson and Mrs. L.
Brophey were appointed to pre-
pare the year books for 1960.
The December meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. L.
Carts.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Steeper,
of Sarnia, spent the weekend
with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken. Larmer, o.(
Peterboro, spent the weekend
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Carman Woodburn.
The girls of the CGIT had a,
successfultime selling cookies
in the vicinity on Saturday aft-
ernoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gardner
and family, of Mallon, spent the
weekend with Mrs. J. Gardner.

Greenway Couple Married Half Century
Couple at Greenway
celebrate anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Brown,
Greenway, celebrated their gold-
en wedding anniversary on Sat-
urday, November 7, 1959 with a
turkey banquet at the Dominion
Hotel, Zurich. Present were the
family, and grandchildren. Fol-
lowing the banquet they were
at home to over 200 friends, rela-
tives and neighbors, at their
residence.
Dean Brown and the former
Jennie Steeper exchanged mar-
riage vows at the home of the
bride's parents, the late Mr. and
Mrs. David Steeper, of Corbett
by Rev. T. A. Steadman.
Mr. and. Mrs. Brown are well
known in this vicinity having
resided here all their lives. Mr.
Brown operated a threshing ma-
chine for a number of years and
has a sawmill at Corbett.
They are members of Green-
way United Church, where Mrs.
Brown was president of the
Woman's Association and of the
Berean Bible Class.
They have four children: Mrs,
Carman (Olive) Woodburn, of
Greenway; Mrs, Elzar (Maudie)
Mousseau, Kippen; Mrs. Rufus
(Rubie) Turnbull, Grand Bend,
J. Thompson of the British and
Foreign Bible Society of London
will be the guest speaker in the
United Church when the congre-
gation of the Anglican Church
and the United Church will hold
•a joint service.

six grandchildren,
Among the many gifts re-
ceived from friends and rela-
tives, they were presented with
gold wrist watches by the fam-
ily, and a hostess chair by the
neighbors, Congratulatory tele-
grams were received from Pre-
mier Frost and from Mrs, Edith
Walters and Mr. Noel Walters
of England.
BRIDE•ELECT HONORED
Miss Donna Coward, bride -
elect of Saturday,' was honored
by the staff of South Huron Hos-
pital at a dinner at Dominion
Hotel, Zurich, Last Monday eve-
ning. •
During the evening Donna was
showered with miscellaneous
gifts.

meeting in the new project

the hone of Mrs. Bruce Tuckey,

describe each one's present type

elects new executive
Mrs. Fred Dobbs was elected
president of the Ladies' Auxiliary
to South Huron Hospital at the
annual meeting on Tuesday aft-
ernoon. She succeeds Mrs.
D, hell, president for the past
year.

ways and means committee,
stated $2,551.47 had been raised
from the four projects in the
year, bridge and card party,
spring and fall rummage sales
and tag day. Treasurer Mrs. R.
E. Pooley reported $78 realized
from the sale of baby sitters and
$113.89 from Burkley's match
sales.
Mrs. W. C. Allison, convener
of the buying committee, sug
gested that hospital linens
bought ready made were as sat-
tisfactory and as reasonable in
price as homemade articles and
henceforth iliere would be less
sewing to be done. Mrs. Bruce
Tuckey said 309 articles had
been made locally this year.
Mrs. Fred Dobbs, incoming
president, gave a comprehensive
report of the convention of the
Ontario Hospital Association
held in Toronto recently.
The Auxiliary will he guests
of the hospital staff for the De,
cember meeting.
