plans activities
Mrs. Glen Bell, Noble Grand,
presided at the regular meeting
of Amber Rebekah Lodge No.
349 on Wednesday evening. Mrs.
Ilobsinger was welcomed by the
Lodge.
Mrs. A. Orr reported for the
property committee and pre-
sented spoons Which were re-
cently purchased. 'qrs. Leona
Park reported for the member-
ship committee and Mrs. Clar-
ence Volland reported the pro-
ceeds at the euchre held by the
CPT committee recently.
Arrangements were made for
two banquets for which the
Lodge are in charge: the base-
ball banquet on November 27
and the Hereford Association
banquet December 1.
.Arrangements were made for
the Christmas party to be held
December 2 with an exchange
of gifts. The entertainment com-
mittee is Mrs. E. Chipchase,
Mrs. William Parker, Mrs. Wes
Venner and Mrs. Bev. Beaton;
lunch committee, Mrs. Elgin
Thomson, Mrs. George Parker,
Mrs. J. Ingram and Mrs. Ken
Elder.
A committee comprising Mrs.
E. Chipchase, Mrs. George Park-
er and Mrs, A. MacGregor was
appointed to arrange the mara-
thon euchre. The Noble Grand
requested a degree team be or-
ganized the first of January.
Bride honored
Mrs. Lorne Hay was hostess
last Wednesday for a presenta-
tion for her sister, Miss Ruth
McLean of London, a bride of
Saturday, November 21, with lin-
snediate members of the families
attending from Goderich, Sea -
forth and Hensall. Ruth was the
recipient of many beautiful gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Broad -
foot of Goderich, observing their
20th wedding anniversary, were
presented with a china tea set.
Vases of bronze mums and
decorations in pink and white
motif formed attractive house
decorations.
A social hour of cards was en-
joyed.
Prior to her marriage, Ruth,
who is on the staff of the Lon-
don Life, was feted at several
pre -nuptial presentations in her
honor, held in London.

Henson Chamber of Commerce
meeting recently finalized plans
for a Santa Claus parade on the
afternoon of Deceinber 12, to b
followed with several cartoons
in the town hall.
Committees were appointed to
arrange for a Christmas tree
which will be placed on Main
street within the next week or
so, .and to arrange for purchase
and packaging of several hun-
dred bags of candy for the
Christmas party.
The Chamber of Commerce
will also provide free public
skating for the youngsters every
Saturday afternoon from Novem-
ber 28 through March 26 with
ice time taking $238 from the
Chamber's coffers.
Honored at farewell
Mrs. K. Meidinger, a resident
of the village for some years,
who recently purchased a home
in Zurich,' taking up residence
there was honored at a farewell
presentation held for her at the
home of Mrs. Gertrude Dayman
last Wednesday evening.
Neighbors and friends present-
ed her with a table lamp, Mrs.
Robert Baker Sr. making the
presentation. Euchre was enjoy-
ed.
Teen town talk

A regular dance of the Hen-
sall Teen Town was held in the
arena auditorium last Friday
night.
The organizer of the Seaforth
Teen Town, Police Chief Hutche-
son, was special guest, Chaper-
ones were Mrs. William Fink
chase. Two weeks ago chaper-
oness were Mrs. William Fink
and Mrs. R. Bissonette.
Carmel WA plans bazaar
Plans for the bazaar and tea
to be held on Saturday, Novem-
ber 28 were finalized at the
November meeting of the Ladies'
Aid of Carmel church.
Mrs. John Soldan's group was
in charge of the program when
Mrs. Soldan gave the topic in
keeping with Remembrance Day
"Greater Love Hath no Man."
Mrs. John Love read the scrip-
ture passages.
Mrs. Alex McGregor conduct-
ed the business.
Loses finger nails
Gary •Anderson, ten -year-old
son of Mr. and Mrs. Emmerson
Anderson, Kippen and grade 5
student at Hensall Public School
had two finger nails taken off
his left hand Tuesday. •
His hand became jammed- in
one of the doors at the school. He
was treated at the office of Dr.
J. Goddard.

The annu al thankoffering
meeting of the Marian Ritchie
Evening Auxiliary was held in
the basement of the church with
Mrs. S, McCurdy presiding.
Mrs. S. McCurdy introduced
the special speaker, Mrs. Steph-
ens of Newton Who gave an in-
teresting account of her experi-
ences as a delegate to the Eve-
ning Auxiliary Department con-
ference held in Montreal in May.
Mrs, Frank Hamilton read the
scripture lesson. Mrs, Lorne El::
liott read an article from the
Glad Tidings and a reading was
given by Miss Olive Speare.
Mrs, Cliff Miller favored with a
solo.

attended the Royal Winter Fair
in Toronto last -week.

The closing meeting of the
carr was held on Tuesday eve-
ning in the basement of the
church. The girls, with their
loader, Mrs. Larnond enjoyed a
pot luck supper which was fol-
lowed with their regular pro-
gram.
Demonstrations- were given by
Mrs. William Caldwell for a sup-
per dish and Mrs. Campbell'
Eyre, a dessert.
Plans were formulated and
committees appointed for the'
25th anniversary of the branch
to be observed December 18
with the regular meeting to be'
held in the auditorium of Hen -1
sall Memorial Centre, When,
guest speaker will be Miss Helen:

party in the evening. Invitations
have been sent to all former
members to attend this big cele-
bration,

Mrs. John Redden, Belmont,
Man., the former Millie Cud -
more of Exeter, died last week
in her 90th year.
She is survived by her hus-
band, one son, Mervyn, Brant-
ford; two daughters, Ella and
Muriel of Winnipeg. Mrs. Cathe-
rine Hedden of Hensall is a sis-
ter -in -la w.
Guide corner

The November 19 meeting of
the lst Girl Guides began with
the usual opening exercises.
The Guides and their mothers
enjoyed a talk on the preserving
of flowers .and weeds. The talk
was given by Mrs, Norma Sei-
bert, home economic teacher at
Zurich. Mrs, Seibert also show.

could be made from old pieces
of driftwood, fungi and moss.
Refreshments were served and
the meeting was closed shortly
after nine o'clock.
Guides ,aid building fund
The Girl Guides made and sold
candy on Saturday, November 7.
With the proceeds they, were
able to buy 200 square inches in
the new Toronto headquarters.
All the funds for this building
are raised by Girl Guides.
