Local Lepquers attend convention

i Mr. Robert Becker of Dashwood
, recently returned from attending
the 49th annual convention of the
Ontario District Walter League
of the Lutheran Church, Missouri
Synod which was held at Huron
College, London.
Eighty-four representatives in-
cluding 51 voting delegates at-
tended the three day convention.
They came from 25 Lutheran con-
gregations as far east as Osha-
wa, north as Owen Sound and
west as Dashwood. Their average
age ranged from 13 to 24.
The program included recrea-
tion periods, meals, devotions,
Bible studies, as well as business
sessions and lectures. Reports
were receivedfrom committees
on league activities including
summer camps; Wheatridge
Christmas Tuberculosis seals;
Gamma Delta — the Lutheran
university youth organization,
publications, finances and others.
Zion Walter League of Dash-
wood was commended for its fine
performance. in being one of the
few leagues to near its financial
goal for New Dimensions a ,re-
sent project of international.
Election of ifficers• resulted in
Paul Pollex of Stratford named
as president: Diane Strahm also
of Stratford, vice-president: El-
frieda Schellenberger of Kitche-
ner, secretary; Mabel Hahn, New
Hamburg, .treasurer; the Rev.
Dayton Fritz of Mitchell as pas-
toral advisor.
Special speakers at the con-
vention included Rev. Dr. Wal-
ter Koerber of Toronto Board. of
Education. Mr, Richard Hemma
of Chicago, Rev. Paul Eifert of
London and Rev. C. J. Killinger
of London. The Rev, K. ,Zorn of
Dashwood lead the conventioners
in recreation on Sunday after-.
noon,
Lutheran Ladies' Aid
The first fall meeting of Zion
Lutheran Ladies' Aid was held,
Wednesday with 21 members pre-
sent. This was a missionary meet-
ing.
Pastor Zorn took as a topic,
"Jesus, the First Missionary,”
Group discussion and Bible read-
ings brought out the theme. As-
sisted by several of the ladies
he also conducted closing devo-
