"Home Economics" was the
theme of the meeting of Clover-
dale Women's institute last Wed-
nesday evening at the home of
Mrs. B, Lagerwerf.
Mrs. Bruce Vernon, convener,
gave. a talk on the theme and
the roll call was answered by
naming "my worst mistake in
cooking".
Mrs. Caines, who chairedthe
meeting, commented on the mot-
to: "A woman's home should be
the centre of her world, not the
circumference." Mrs. Clifford
Ritchie conducted a contest and
three questions in the question
box were discussed.
President Mrs. Carmen. Wood-
burn conducted the business, it
was decided to compete in thej
special for institutes at Parkhill
Fair and a committee was ap-
pointed to arrange for same.

Mr. Hall was horn at Mount
Cnnel in 1893, son of Edward
Hall and Hanora Hayes. When
a young man he worked in a
tobacco store in Kitchener, later
going to Detroit to work at
Ford's.
!fe marired the former Gladys
Carter in 1932. The following
year they moved to Clandeboye
and for 26 years operated the
Supertest service station and
grocery store here.
He is survived by his wife,
four ,children, Mary Jane of
Blackstock; Robert, Joseph and
Rosemary of Clandeboye; two
grandchildren, Douglas and
Richard Hall; two brothers,
Thomas, of Kenosha, Wis., John
of Mt. Carmel; two sisters,
(Mary( Mrs. O. W. Mitton, of
Battle Creek, Mich., and (T.res-
sa) Mrs. Frank Radcliffe, De-
troit.
Mr. Hall attended church on
Sunday morning but suffered a
heart. attack Sunday night and
another Monday evening, pass-
ing away at 9 ,p.m.
Bearers will be Joe Conlin,
Charles Cronyn, John Glavin, M.
J. Simpson, Wilmer Scott and
Ernest Lewis.

behind a palm on a hotel veran-
dah late one night when a young
man and a girl came and sat
down • on a bench near them.
The young man began to tell the
girl how pretty she was,
Bidden behind the palm, Mrs.
Jones whispered to her husband.
"Oh, John, he doesn't know
we're here, and he's going to
propose. Whistle to warn him."
"What for?" asked .Jones, "No-
body whistled to warn me."
