Scoutscamp
best one yet
Exeter Scouts have become so
proficient at camping that their
seven-day outing on Georgian'
Bay last week could hardly be
described as "roughing it."
Their culinary skills —• plus
backwoods,ingenuity — enabled
diem to rig up stoves in which
they cooked roasts of beef,
chicken and even cakes.
The stoves were made out of
five -gallon cans supported by flat
rocks which cover the bay's
shores.
The camp, described by Scout -
raster Ralph Sweitzer as the
"most successful we've ever
lead," was held at North :Keppel,
20 miles north of Owen Sound.
Beautiful scenery, crystal clear
water and sunny weather capped
the boys' fun.
Twenty-two boys from both
"A' and `B' troops participated in
the camp, at which a number
completed tests in swimming, life
saving, cook, and axemanship.
A nine -mile hike featured one
clay's program.
In charge of the camp, along
With SM Sweitzer were SM's Hal
Hooke, Bob McDonald and Doug
Harrison, along with Troopleader
Doug Jermyn. Patrol leaders
were Doug Hodgson, ,lim Sweit-
ser and Barry Grainger.
It was the fourth annual sum-
mer camp sponsored by the local
troop.
