bles -gave Exeter, bantams a 1-0
lead in the best: of -three WOAA
Bantam "C" Group 1 semi-finals
in Seaforth Wednesday night as
the locals copped a 10-2 decision.
Second game of the series will
be played in Exeter Friday,
August 7.
Mery Taylor and Barry Brint-
nellpaced the Exeter •hitting at-
tack with a double andsingle
each. Other safeties went to
Ricky Boyle, Bob Schroeder, Don
Cann, Fred Wells and Jerry
Cooper.
Don Dale collected two of
Seaforth's five safeties while the
others fell. to Pappel, Watson and
Bob Dale.
Seaforth scored both their runs
in the bottom of the first after
Exeter had taken a brief 1-0
lead. However, the Exeter kids
bounced back with three in the
second. one in each. of the third
and sixth and climaxed their on-
slaught with four big runs in the
seventh.

Exeter bantams :finalized a
successful stab at the last playoff
berth in the WOAA Bantam "C".
playoffs this week when they
downed Mitchell bantams 12-7
and gained a 4-4 tie with the
league leading New Hamburg
bantams.
By virtue of their win and tie,
Exeter picked up three points to
bring their total to eight, four
more 471 than the lastp lace Mitchell
club.
Exeter bantams had the high
.flying New Hamburg club, who
had posted nine straight victories
without a loss, hanging on the
ropes for four innings with a 4-0
lead. However, New Hamburg
with plenty of bench power,
bounced hack with a single run
in the top of the fifth and three

Although rain rather than snow
hampered our activities, we car-
ried on our varied activities for
"Christmas in July".
Throughout the week, the chil-
dren sang Christmas carols and
enjoyed Christmas stories.
The supervisprs made various
gifts to be given to the children,
Santa was to arrive on Friday
but was delayed by rain and
didn't appear until Monday.
All the playgrounds gathered
around our decorated tree at
Kin Park for a sing song: This
was followed by the crowning of
a king and queen for eaeh play-
ground.

finished third on 126. Fourth
place went to Walkerton (113)
while Exeter edged Goderich out
of fifthplace by one point with
92. Milverton rounded out the
seven participating centres with

'Goderich took first class hon-
ors in the swimming meet with
107 points. Other centres com-
peting were: St. Marys (86);
Walkerton (22), Exeter (14) and'
Listowel (4).
This was the first of four
swim meets to be held this 'stun -
mer. The second will take place
in St. Marys next Wednesday.

'Olympic' was the highlight of
the week July 27-31. •
Supervisors at Kin Park were
Carolyn Dice, Bernice Strang,
Dean McKnight and Marilyn
Jory, At Victoria were Bonnie
Doerr and Barbara Hodgson
while Dorothy Kerslake was at
Queens.
Tuesday and Thursday were
spent practising for the track
and field meet that was held
on Friday.
Friday was topped by the
Track Meet held at Kin. Park.
Supervisors were in charge of
event: which included standing
broad, running broad, high jump,
races, shot put and the distance
throws.
A trip to Goderich on. Wednes-

day night when they edged. Dash-

past week as they took a 22-9
thumping from a powerful Clin-
ton nine and dropped a close

12-6 on the score sheet, five glar-
ing errors stared the locals in
the face as Clinton ran the bases
