Recreation activities
By .1, R. "SCOTTY" HUME, Arena Manager
Since my last letter in this
Paper, I regret to say I am
very disappointed in the support
this town gives to the different
activities.
Last Wednesday evening one
of the local lodges who sponsor
two teams in the Minor Base-
ball League, put on a game with
Exeter, which was well adver-
tised. I watched this team and
they put all they had into it,
They worked hard and were de-
termined to win, which they clic).
Congratulations! The point I
would like to emphasize is that
ther. was only a handful of
people there to support them—
to be exact just 25. Of this num-
ber 17 were boys and girls. Do
you think that is loyalty to
these boys who are determined
to bring hack laurels, such as a
championship. to Hensall? Let us
face up to it, these boys deserve
better support at their games.
But I guess it is, the same
for everything . held here in
town. Last week, through the
medium of this paper, I gave
you a summary of the different
activities we have held, and
some to be held. I am,veiy dis-
appointed in the so-called loyalty
of our citizens,
1 called for a meeting of the
Senior Citizens of the town to
form a club in the fall. The re-
sponse I got to that meeting
was three — these being men.
"Thank you, gentlemen".
I had a dance on Friday night
at which I hoped to raise money
to help buy some of the items I
listed last weeks but to my dis-
may, I found the support of the
c,tizens and business people
shocking. Only 24 people paid ad-
mission. Out of these only seven
were from this town, the others
were from' out of town. I really
do not think this is much en-
couragement to someone who
was hired to come here to raise
money to help keep the arena,
which everyone in this town
helped t o build, on a paying
basis, when even . your own
townspeople do not have enough
interest to patronize it. •

REFRIGERATION

We were pleased fo supply
and install refrigeration in
the new' IGA market at
Exeter.
I am wondering if this is the
way the people have of showing
how much they want an out-
sider to he arena manager and
recreational director, or "do
they want one"? •If they do, let
us alt get behind the wheel and
help, The cost of the dance the
other night was considerable,
but please do not blame the
manager. He did his best to
make it a success, but I was
certainly let down,
If I am to see that the arena
is kept going on a paying basis,
and make money, I would like
better support, not only to any
activities the arena may hold,
but also to the minor activities
and games of our boys.
