Senior club Stephen council Treat girls
attracts 130 improves office elect slate
Stephen township council, at
its regular meeting Tuesday, de-
cided to install a lavatory at the
clerk's office.
Freeman Hodgins waited on
Ihe council in regards to a by-
law respecting the low-lying
lands of the township, The coun-
cil decided to study the pro-
posed plans.
General accounts amounting to
5125.35 were passed as were the
township road vouchers.
All members were present
with the exception of Councillor
Ed Gill.
The attendance at the Senior
Citizens Club meeting on Tues-
day evening . numbered around
130, including visitors from near-
by communities, St. Marys,
Kington, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter
Ewmett or Surrey, England, who
are visiting their son in Exeter.
After the opening singsong led
by Walter Cutbush with Mrs. A,
Dougall at the piano, Mrs. 11.1
Broderick's tap dancing girls
entertained. Taking part were
Kathy McDonald, Glenda Fisher,'
Garbi Fritz, Louise McBride, "
Brenda Skinner and Carol Ann
Bell.

and Gary Eagleson, accompanied
by Mrs. Emmery Fahrner; duets;

Frank King. The. Girl Guides
servedthe lunch and for their;
efficiency were awarded a hos-
tess credit in their training as
Guides.

Granton lady
crash victim
Mrs. Ida Beatson, 67, of Bid-
dulph Township, died in Strat-
ford General. Hospital, Monday,
June 1, from, injuries received in
a car accident on Highway 7
near Rannoch, April 24, in which
her husband lost his life.
In the accident Mrs. Beatson
suffered :fractures of both legs
when their car left the highway,
broke off a telephone pole and
struck a tree,
She was the former Ida Atkin-
son and had lived in Biddulph
all her life.
Surviving are brolhers, Earl
and Gordon Atkinson, RR 1, Lu -
can; Harry, Stratford; sisters,
(Vera) Mrs. Elmer Lewis, and
(Irene) Mrs. Edgar Lewis, both

and daughter night at Arm-
strong's Restaurant Thursday
evening, President Ed Brady
presided,
A sing song was led by W. G.
Cochrane with Norm. Waiper at
the piano. Favors for the girls
were small bracelets.
W. G. Cochrane welcomed the
guests and Miss Susan Goman
expressed their appreciation on
being present. A piano duet was
played by Sandra and Linda Wal,
per. A picture showing the at-
tractions of Jamaica was en-
joyed.
K. G. Hockey was elected pre.
sident of the club for the coming
year. Past president is Ed, Bra-
dy and vice- presidents are R.
L. Beavers, Fred Darling and
Andy 'Snelgrove.

treasurer, Ken McLaughlin; Lion
tamer, Dick Jermyn; tail twis-

Funeral service will be con-
ducted on Thursday, at 2 p.m.,
from the Haskett and Son funer-
al home, Lucan, with burial in
St, James Cemetery, Clande-
boye.
