Friday evening to honor Rev. Calvin. C. k ahrne.r before his departure to Germany where he will attend Heidelberg Univers- sty and continue his ministry, Relatives were present from Kitchener, London, Dashwood, Exeter, Zurich and Grand Bend, A program with Mr. Alvin Finkbeiner as chairman was enjoyed and consisted Of a sing sing; piano solo by Mrs, Harry Hess of Zurich; trumpet and trombone duet by Donna Ham- ather and Garry Eagleson of Dashwood; trombone solo by Donna; vocal duets by Karen Finkbeiner and Margaret Heist; Mrs, Ted Insley and Miss Doris Schwartz. A short talk was given b. the chairman and a skit by Mrs. Almer Passmore, Mrs. Lily. Haist, Mrs. Lloyd Jones, Gordon Ratz, Gordon Morlock and Almer Passmore, Calvin showed pic- tures of the Holy Land , and Germany and spoke briefly on them. A presentation followed. Mr. Roy Ratz read an address and Mr, Wellington Heist presented a purse of money to Calvin. Calvin thanked everyone and thought it quite unique that two of his uncles made the presenta- tion. Mr, Alvin Finkbeiner and Mr. Gordon Ratz, both former Sun- day Schoolteachers of Calvin's, spoke briefly. Rev. L. A. Dorsch of Milver- ton will be the guest speaker far the anniversary.services next Sunday, May 17, at the Evan- gelical united Brethren Church. EUB Ladies Aid Mrs. Allen Finkbeiner had charge of the devotional period assisted by Mrs. Wilmer Wein at the meeting of the Ladies Aid and WSWS of Evangelical UB Church on Thursday evening with a good attendance. A solo was rendered by Diane Gaiser, Mrs. Bren de Vries of Exeter was guest speaker, Her topic was the first years of their life in Canada. Rev. G, Strome sang a solo an.. a talk on "Spiritual Life" was given by Mrs. Jacob Ratz. The president, Mrs. A. Gaiser, had charge of the business meet- ing. It was decided to purchase a dozen chairs for the Sunday School room. A ladies' choir had practice for Mother's Day. , A half hour of fellowship was enjoyed. UC Mother's Day service Special Mother's Day services were held in the United Church. The church service was conduct- ed by Rev. R. Hiltz and special conduct - , was supplied by the choir.
