Ilensall council decided At its
meeting Menday night to pave
portions of Wellington and Rich-
mond streets.
A bylaw Providing for $6,500
additional expenditure on road
construction was passed to pro-
vide for hardtopping from the
K o z y ',corner Restaurant to
Thomson's niill, then east to Dr.
J. C. Goddard's corner on Rich -
Mond.
In other business, council dealt
with flog taxes, drainage, trees
And sidewalks.
Jim Sangster appeared at, the
meeting to object to paying a
dog tax when he had to keep his
dog tied up all the time, He
asked what was done with the
money from dog taxes.
Council told him the dog tax
went into village funds and that
council was „requested by the
county to have the dogs tied up
because of the rabies outbreak.
Council agreed Lo take his
complainf to county and to ask
the official at Godtrich about
the bylaw regarding dog tax.
Wilmer Ferguson received
permission to cut down two
trees in front of his residence.

on motions by Councillors Min-
nie Noakes and John Lavender,
Thompson's mill was request•
ed to fill in the foundation of, the
old mill on Brock street to make
it, safe for children within 60
days.
Mickle's mill was asked to in-
stall eavestroughing on its build-
ing and mit in drainage for it
within 60 days.
Councillor Noakes gave a Is -
port on the Mid -Western Ontario
Development Association meet-
ing in Stratford on April 27.
The PUC was warned that it
must repair any sidewalk broke
en or property damaged during
service. work.
Reeve John 'Henderson presid-
ed and all councillors were pres-
ent.

George Moir
injures hand
Mr. GeorgeMoir, an employee
at Thompson's Mill for the past
10 years, met with a painful ac-
cident at the mill on Tuesday.
He was removing a bird's nest
from* the shaft with an iron rod
when his hand 'slipped and be-
came caught in the elevator
taking the ends off the middle
and second fingers of his right
hand and injuring the others.
He was attended by Dr, J. C.
Goddard. He will be off work
for a week or two.

was revealed at the zone inter-
club meeting in Hensall Friday
night.
Ten Kinette clubs, reporting on
their year's activities, completed
Projects valued at more than
$10,000, most of them connected
with activities sponsored bY
Kinsmen clubs.
The Kinamen's wives, raising
their money through bake sales,
raffles, catering and selling pea•
nuts, helped children hard of
hearing, crippled and handi-
capped in other ways. They also
assisted needy families, donated
time and money to many cha-
ritable organizations.
Over 159 members from the 10
clubs attended the zone rally ie
the arena auditorium where
they were served a smorgasbord
