Explorer meeting
The meeting of the Lucan-
Clandeboye Explorers was held
in the United Church basement
last Monday evening with Coun-
sellor Kae Haskett in charge of
the worship service. She was
assisted by Cathy Mathers and
Daisy Cobleigh. During the busi-
ness session $5,50 was voted to
the nursery department for the

April 8, when the Rev. Dr. B. C.
Eckardt, of London, conducted
funeral services, Interment was
in Nursery Cemetery.
Pallbearers were six grand-
sons: Don Abbott, William Abbott,
Clayton Abbott, Les Abbott,
Arthur Abbott and Warren Flan-
nigan.
She is survived by four sons:
Clifford and Murray, of Lucan;
Clayton, of Paris, and Bruce, of
London: two daughters, Mrs.
John Moon (Madeline), of Lon-
don, and Mrs. Kenneth Brock
(Amy), of Thorndale; 20 grand-
children, and seven great -grand•
children; also one brother, Jack
Spackman, of Timmins, and two
sisters, Mrs. Olive Hall. Mani-
toulin, and Mrs. Horace Alton, of
Victoria, B.C.
Daughter of the late Mr, and
Mrs. George Spackman, Mrs.
Abbott was born in Hullet Town-
ship, near Varna, but spent her
early life at Grand Bend, Mr,
Abbott predeceased her 20 years
ago. Shortly after his death, Mrs.
Abbott went to London to work.

A strange coincidence
Three largely attended funerals
were held in Lucan last Monday
afternoon; that of Mrs, Wesley
Culbert, at 2 p.m„ from the
Murdy funeral home; that of Wil-
liam F, Abbott, at 2'p.m„ and
Mrs. Alonzo Abbott, at 4 pint.,
from the C. Haskett and Son
funeral home.
By a strange coincidence, Mrs.
Abbott spent her married life on
the farm where her brother-in-
law, William Abbott, 'was raised,
and stranger still. this farm ad-
joins the farm where Mrs. Cul-
bert spent her married life (on
Concession 4, Biddulph, about
four miles north of Lucan).
Achievement day
The Lucan Figure Skating Club
closed its season activities with
an Achievement Day. Prizes
were given for balloon relays,
spins, spirals, jumps, etc. Those

Lambeth here last Thursday
night, they went down to defeat
G-1, probably due to, the fact
Larry Lewis was on the sick list
and their star player, Roger
Black, was away on vacation,
Paul Young, assisted by Bob
Hickson and Ward Hodgins,
scored Lucan's only goal,
LOBA 387 euchre
At an eight -table euchre at the
LOBA lodge rooms last Wednes-
day, night score prizes went to
Mrs. Roy Pepper (Exeter),, and
Mr. Cecil Neil; lone hand prizes
to Mrs, George Millar and Mrs,
Jack Walls: lucky chair prize to
Mr. Fred Culbert, and basket of
groceries to Mr, Toni Ryan.
A strange coincidence
Three largely attended funerals
were held in Lucan last Monday
afternoon; that of Mrs, Wesley
Culbert, at 2 p.m„ from the
Murdy funeral home; that of Wil-
liam F, Abbott, at 2'p.m„ and
Mrs. Alonzo Abbott, at 4 pint.,
from the C. Haskett and Son
funeral home.
By a strange coincidence, Mrs.
Abbott spent her married life on
the farm where her brother-in-
law, William Abbott, 'was raised,
and stranger still. this farm ad-
joins the farm where Mrs. Cul-
bert spent her married life (on
Concession 4, Biddulph, about
four miles north of Lucan).
Achievement day
The Lucan Figure Skating Club
closed its season activities with
an Achievement Day. Prizes
were given for balloon relays,
spins, spirals, jumps, etc. Those
in charge saw that all the chin
dren present won at least one
prize, ,
