Prest explaining that the service of the Blessing of the Palms is based on an ancient service which in 1554 was quoted in Brand Antiques, Two senior Sunday School girls, Misses Joan and Barbara Cunningham, handed out the crosses made from palm leaves to the congregation. Farmers make plans The executive of the Lunn Junior liarmers held a meeting last Tuesday evening at the home of Clare Paton to plan the pro gram for the new season. The anepal banquet that was to have been in March and which had to be cancelled due to storm and roads is to be on April 4 at Arm. strong's Restaurant, Exeter. Plans were laid to have a dance at Lucan Arena April 17. Other things discussed were: church service, ball team and 4-H Calf Club. Mr. Earl Atkinson favored with mouth organ selections. The meeting concluded with a sing- song. Last week's wind storm caused a lot of damage to barn 'roofs, Mr. William Simpson is having a steel roof put on by Scott's of Lucan who Avg also put on sheet- ing and steel roof for Mr. Andy Carter's barn, Alt. Mervin Cart- er and Mr. Roy McRann have to put on new roofs on their barns too. Mrs. Al. Boggs and daughter, - Vicki, London, left by TCA last week to join her husband at Coldlake, 300 miles north of Ed- monton where he is stationed with the RCAF there. The Lucan Recreation and Arena Boards on March 31 are sponsoring an old-fashioned ice carnival in aid of the Listowel disaster fund. Saturday closing Lucan stores, which closed at 6 p,ni. each Saturday evening, during the winter months, will, beginning this Saturday, March 28, remain open for the balance of the year. Ecumenical Service The delayed 1959 Ecumenical - service, introduced in 1958 by the Canadian Council of Churches, was held Sunday eve- ning in the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Members of the three church Young -Peoples participated in the program consisting of three tableaus — the first a classroom scene by the Anglican AYPA, the second a service in a work camp by the United Church YPU, and the last a coffee break in a Jap. anese factory by the Pentecostal Holiness Young People. Heather Stanley was devotion- al leader and was assisted by Donna Thomson, Graham Thompson, Torn Tomes, Lorraine Graham , and Keith Simpson, Coursey School euchre Mrs. Harry Stokes and Miss Loreen Hodgins were hostesses for the six table euchre last Fri• day night at the Coursey School, High score prizes went to Mrs. Guy Ryan and Mr. Bev Hodgins; the second high store to Mts.
