electricians. printers, etc., each
wish their own officers and theirown meeting dates, etc. These
unions work together through a
labor council. The council for
this area is composed of dele-
gates from each local union. A
labor council generally owns
and maintains a building as the
labor hall, or labor temple, which
is used for office space and for
meetings.

and very kindly treated. I didn't
expect those at the meeting to
agree with all I had to say about
the activities of labor unions and
labor leaders, and they didn't
agree with it. They quite frank -

repeated what I had said iii the
throne speech debate and gave
my reasons for saying it. There'
was no mud slinging and ,no tin-'
pleasantness. The debate lasted
for' two hours and was followed
by written questions.
As most of our readers will
know from the nwSI)1I)et' re•
ports covering the greeting, the
labor council brought in an es•
pert from Toronto to present Its
side of the case. This marl was

band in written questions ad-
dressed to the speaker they
wished to answer the question.
The chairman handed out the
» questions in turn but there was
' only time for about four ques-
tions each. A large pile of ques-
tions had to be left unanswered.
When it was all over we shook
hands all around, and I left the
meeting hoping that the mem-
hers of the London Labor Coun-
eil had the same respect, for me
that I had for then.
The house is now working on
estimates. Last week the Depart-

Soule suggestions were made
by yours truly to improve Re-

There is regret on all sides
of the ]louse that the strike in
