series to Elora Tuesday night
after losing the fourth game 15.5
in •Klora.
Hensall could dress only .nine
men for the contest and lost one
of those through an injury. Peter
Bedard, flit by a puck shot at
the goal, suffered a cut on his
mouth which regtured 12 stitches
to close.
Don Hesse and Don O'Brien
each scored twice for Hensall
with Murray Baker getting the
fifth marker.
Elora won three of the four
contests and the other ended in
A 0.9 deadlock. 1-leimall dropped
out rather than force Elora to
make a third trip here.
Tribe cops series

The tribe came out strongly in
thethird period and in five min-
utes had knotted the score.
Heideman started the tribe off
when he scored unassisted at the
2:27 mark. Bob White cut the
lead to one goal when he fired a
screened shot in from the point.
Jim Russell drew an assist on
the play, having fired the puck
hack to the hard working de-
fensenlan, Bill Oberle put the
two teams on an even count
when .he finished off a passing
play with Heideman. Oberle
blasted a shot that Foster par-
tially blocked hut the disc man-
aged to,slip between his pads.
With Ken Matthews off for
tripping, the tribe took advan-
tage of the extra man to put on
a sustained drive to gain the tie-
breaker. They were rewarded at
10:40 when Heideman faked a
pass to Oberle and fired a sizz-
ling shot behind Foster.
Both teams continued to check
hard but couldn't beat the goal -
tenders. :Forest pulled Foster in
favor of an extra forward during
the last minute but couldn't get
the equalizer,,

First event is a 25 -bird, five -
man team shoot for London
Winery trophy; second event, for
the Carling trophy, features two;
/man teams in a 25 -bird event.
The shoot is sponsored by
Kippen Gun Club.

Thursday tussle tells tale
in mighty midget match
Lucan Shamrocks - have
bounced back from a 2-0 game
deficit to tie their best of five
OMHA midget semi-final series
with Zurich at two games each.
With their backs to the wall,
the Irish crew edged Zurich 8-6
in Lucan Wednesday, and then
'registered a decisive 11-5 win
in Hensall Friday,
The final game of the series
will be played in Lucan Thurs-
day night,
Coach. Don O'Brien. hopes the
six-day layoff will give his Zur-
ich club a chance to get some
of its injuries mended. His two
star forwards, Bob Johnston and.
Earl Wagner, have been plagued
with leg injuries, while defence -
man "Woody" Weido has been
slowed up with a back injury.

Luc an Shamrocks squared
their best -of -five OMHA midget
"D" series when they drubbed
Zurich 11-5 in Hensel! Friday
night.
Led by Hugh Conlin who trig-
gered four goals, Shamrocks
scored eight times on Amacher
before Zurich could manage a
tally.
The winners scored four in the
first period on markers by Con-
lin, Jerry Harrigan, Paul and
Norm Sceli.
• They triggered four more in
the second with Conlin getting a
pair and Barry Black and Har-
rigan potting singletons. Earl
Wagner scored for Zurich at
the 18:00 minute mark of the
middle frame to make the score
8-1 for Lucan.
Zurich put on their best dis-
play in the third period when
they scored four goals. However,
the Shamrocks tallied • three
times to add to their total,
Larry Bedard fired a pair for
the losers in the third while
Earl. Wagner scored his second
of the game and "Woody" Wei -
do tallied the other marker.
Keith O'Niell, Barry 'Black
and Hugh Conlin were the scor-
ers for the winners,
Besides scoring his four goals,
Hugh Conlin set up two of his
teammates for tallies to figure
in six of his team's goals. Paul
Conlin picked up four assists to
go with his goal to follow Hugh
with five points.
Earl Wagner, Bob Johnston
and Larry Bedard picked up
three scoring points each for the
losers.
Fifteen penalties were called
in the hard-fought contest as
tempers flared throughout the
game. Barry Black and Zurich.

Score five
to survive
Lucan Shamrocks, facing e-
limination, scored five goals in
the third period to edge Zurich
midgets 8-6 .in Lucan Wednesday
night. The win was their first
in the five -game series, and left
Zurich with a 2-1 game edge.
Zurich built up an early 6-4
lead, but Lucan scored four
times in the last 10 minutes to
clinch the victory.
Paul Conlin, Jerry Harrigan
and Barry Black led the win-
ners with a pair of goals each,
while Bob Johnston scored four
tines for the visiting Zurich
crew.
Zurich jumped to an early
three -goal lead in the first per-
iod as Masse, Paul Weido and
Johnston all found the mark.
Paul Conlin cut the lead to 3-1
when he scored on a passing
play with Harrigan at the 9:00
minute mark in the first.
Conlin scored his second mark-
er of the contest on a solo ef-
fort early in the second. Bob
Johnston put Zurich two goals
up when he scored on a lone
rush at the half -way mark of
the second. Harrigan scored his
first goal less than two minutes
later, but Johnston took a pass
from "Cuss" Wagner to blast
one home at the 15:12 mark to

under way
Two district pee wee teams
were eliminated fromplay 117
the first round of the Young Can-
ada tournament at Goderich on
Saturday. Zurich and Ilderton
were sidelined by losses while
Lucan advance(1 by virtue .of an
8.1 victory over Shallow Lake.
Lucan. Fops opener
Led by Boger Black w h o.
scored the "hat -trick," Lucan
Lepreeauns skated to a decisive
8-1 win over Shallow Lake. Al-
though they were outshot 18.16,
Eddy Harrigan in the ,nets for
the winners came up with sev-
eral key saves.
The winners opened a five -goal
lead before Shallow Lake .could
manage to beat Harrigan. Larry
Lewis and Ernie O'Neill each
scored a pair of markers while
Russ Kennedy picked up the
other tally for the winners.
Lucan :will resume play in the
tourney this Saturday when they

Although they outshot Mild-
may 15-10, Zurichpee wees
couldn't find the mark. They
dropped a 3-1 verdict to Mild-
may.
Phillip Regier scored the only
goal for the losers when he
beamed up with captain Cam
Witmer to pot a goal late in the
second period . after Mildmay
bad taken a three -goal lead.
The loss eliminated Zurich
from the tourney,
Ilderton drubbed 8.2
The Ripley pee wees com-
pletely outplayed Ilderton in
their encounter to drub Don. Bud -
do's crew 8-2.
Ripley had 30 shots on Ed-
ward Fargolie in the Ilderton
net, while the losers managed
only 5 shots on their opponents'
net,

Jack ItzacDonald in the Ripley,
net. The smooth skating defence
.man scored one goal in each of
the second and third period.

The Exeter .all-star pee wees
open their quest for the "C" se-
ries -championship this Saturday
when they meet •Cliesley in their
opener at 6:30.
Fresh from their fine showing
in Mitchell two weeks ago, the
local entry should be heard from
before the tourney winds up.
