Loddon South Lions were
named the best team in the tour-
nament by the judges, who also
included 'Harry Shantz, of Ilcler-
1on; Bruce fluff, London Free
1 rel s, and Tory Gregg, well-
known sportsman from London.
Zurich goalie brilliant
Stade was judged the best
goalie after his brilliant display
against Kensal Park, Although
.his team was badly outplayed,

was only edged 2-1 on a late

ich net, as he made several ex-
ceptionally fine stops,
The two teams appeared to be
ready to settle for a tie, when
Foxworthy grabbed the loose
puck and skated to within 20
feet of the Zurich net and blasted
a high, hard shot that Stade Was
unable to stop.
Cern Witmer, captain of the
Zurich team, turned in a top
performance on the blue :line,
while Barry Block was the main
scoring threat for the losers.
The Zurich team was managed
by Gord Block and Jack Bannis-
ter.
Oakridge Acres edge Byron
Oakridge Acres scored two
goals in the first period and then
played tight defensive hockey to
down Byron 2.0. Russ Dutton, in
the nets for Oakridge Acres, had
the distinction of being the only
goalie to record a shut -out dur-
ing the tournament.
Fans were present from Byron
and Oakridge Acres to give their
kids lots of support, and to make
the game out of the most boister-
ous of the entire proceedings.
Dtfeat Hensall
Max Wilkie fired four goals
to lead South London Lions to an
easy 9-3 rout over Hensall. The
smooth, well - balanced Lions
crew outscored Hensalt 4.2'in the
first period, and never looked
back as they recorded. their vic-
tory.
Craig Chapman was the big
gun for the Hensalt. Legion crew,
as he fired his team's three goals
and played a steady game on
defense along with Bruce Shir- j
ray, The two played nearly the 1
entire contest for the losers, l
Bob Carlisle played a good
game on the. forward line for
Hensall, and only stellar goal -1
tending by John Powe kept the
fast skating forward off the score
sheet.
The Hensall entry was man-
aged by Sam Rennie.
Ilderton 'edged by Centralia
• A short-handed crew of Ilder-
ton .Pee Wees fell one goal short
of upsetting Centralia in a hard-
fought encounter.
Four players from Centralia
volunteered to play with Ilderton
to 'strengthen the team which had
tourney

the international challenge tro-
phy. The Detroit lads were big-
ger than the London boys due to

The London crew, -however,
put up a strung fight and
matched the Detroit sextet with
two first period goals, Detroit
came back strongly in the sec-
ond to pump Monte. three goals
while London could .only score
once. The teams played score.:

The game was the highlight of

he evening—both teams showed
superb coaching and put on a
brilliant display of hockey funda-
mentals.
Lee Martilia led Detroit with
three goals, while Rick Hoar
notched a pair for London,

By virtue of their come -from -
behind 6.6 tie with Lambeth, the
judges gave South LoOdan the
nod as the best team in the
Shamrock tournament a•n d
awarded thein the Harvey Lang-
ford trophy.
Lambeth, last year's winner,'
jumped into a 2.1 first period ;
lead. However, a little Irishman
by the name of Jim Milligan,1
with the advantage of playing in
a Shamrock tournament, used
his Irish luck and skill to pot:
three goals in the second period
to give the Lions a 4-3 lead. l
Lambeth came back strong in
the third period to score three
goals, and a

game in hand,only to have the

with two quick goals to knot the

40 seconds before the final
whistle.

honors. Wayne Weber cut the
lead to one goal when he fired
one past Ed Harrigan in the
second. However, Larry Black
put the Irish boys two up again
when he beat Stade after taking
a pass from brother Roger at the
5:30 mark of the third period.

minutes apart.
The first came after Foster
had stopped. a hard shot by Load•
er, but Oberle cane swooping in
to blast home the rebound. His
second goal came after he had
taken a pass from Rocky Wiese
and skated in on the Forest goal.
Foster, who appeared to think
(Aerie was going to pass, gave
hint a big hole on the left hand
side of the net. Oberle made no
mistake with his bullet drive.
Ulrich counted the winning tal-
ly after four minutes of 'play in
the third period, Tussy Dunham
was given an assist on Weinark-
er,
Mohawks missed several
chances to knot the score as they
appeared too anxious. Beb'Fos-

Earl "Cuss" Wagner gave Zurich
a commanding 4-0 lead when he
teamed up with Captain Wayne

O'Neill's pads at the 15:00 min-
ute mark.
Hugh Conlin managed to get
one back for Lucan before the
four goals to lead the Zurich
midgets to a hard-fought 9-7
victory in Hensalt on Friday
night. Nearly 400 fans witnessed
the contest.
Wagner. wasted little time in
registering bis feat as he drilled
a hot shot past O'Neill with only
46 seconds played in the first
period.
Barry Black, who notched the
"hat trick" for the losers, evened
the score at the 4:35 mark when
he teamed up with linema.te

Zurich nets.
Wagner made the score 8-3
when• he tipped one in at the
1:02 mark of the third frame.
Lucan managed to get one back
when Keith O'Neill beat Ama-
cher, after taking a pass from
1 Paul. Conlin. Larry Bedard fin -
ished off the Zurich scoring at
1 the ten minute mark when he
finished off a three-way pass-
ing play with Wagner and ,Johns-
ton.

During the last ten minutes,
Lucan put on a sustained drive,
and managed to pot three goals,
but time ran out.
