Institute at Dashwood
hears talk on cancer
Mrs. K. L. Zorn was guest
speaker for the March meeting
of the Dashwood Women's Insti-
tute, which was under the
convenership of the health com-
mittee with Mrs. Addison Tieman
as convener.
Mrs. Zorn showed slides on
cancer as wellas giving an in-
formative talk followed by dis-
cussion. Mrs. Stuart Wolfe com-
mented on the motto :`A merry
heart kills more gerns than
medicine." Mrs. Lloyd Eagleson
and Mrs: Robert Hamather
favored with a duet.
Miss Carol Schade, of the 4-11
Homemaking Club, gave the com-
ments on the exhibit "The Cereal
Shelf," which was given at
Achievement Day in Ilensall last
Saturday. June Rader's record
book was on display. The 4-H
leaders, Mrs. Sid Baker and Mrs.
Arnold Kuntz, were presented
with gifts by the Institute.
Mrs. Leonard Schenk presided
for the program, and President
Mrs. Arnold Kuntz conducted the
business. Mrs. Harry Hoffman,
Mrs. Stuart Wolfe and Mrs. Carl
Oestricher were named a nomin-
ating committee to bring in a
slate of officers at the April
meeting.
Donations of five dollars each
were made to the Listowel
Tragedy Fund and to Mr. and
Mrs. Gerald Wilhelm, who lost all
their belongings by fire. It was
decided to cater to the Stephen
Township School Board in the
near future with Mrs. Schenk
and Mrs. Charles Snell conveners.

On Monday evening the .fam-
ily and friends of Mr. and Mrs.
George Wallace gathered at their
home as a surprise party to
celebrate their forty-ninth wed-
ding anniversary.
Progressive euchre was enjoy-
ed with seven tables in play.
Prizes went to Horton McDougall
for high points and to Mrs.
Percy Adams for low. • Lunch,
including an anniversary cake,
was served by the family.
