lavish spring bouquet
By MRS. JACK SMITH
Choosing the right costume
jewelry to complement your
new Taster ensemble is becom-
ing increasingly important every
year. Buyers report the biggest
season in more than two years,
and designers have answered
fashion's call with a variety and
beauty of .design never before
seen.
The total effect of the new
jewelry is of a spring bouquet,
lavish yet delicate, with colours
ranging from white and palest
pastels to those hearing such
exotic names as tangerine,
melon, avocado and desert tan.
Pearls in simple single strands
or luxurious cascades, in natur-
al cream or fashion's latest
colours, can be adapted for
every occasion. Some are com-
bined with crystal or rhine-
stones to give colour and fire.
Mother-of-pearl discs set in
dainty filigree also fall into this
"every occasion" category.
The tailored look has not
been neglected. Pins, bracelets,
necklets and earrings to war
with that new Easter suit are
smarter than ever. They are
fashioned in leaf, floral and
geometric design in gold, silver
and copper, ranging from high.
ly polished to dull antique fin-
ishes. Velvety black enamel off-
set with silver is particularly
effective worn with the intense

Stone set jewelry in rainbow
hues is being shown in great
quantity. For the sophisticate,
bulky metal pieces are set with
large stones simulating moon-
stones, jade and turquoise. For
the more conservative, stones
are smaller to conform with the
more finely wrought pieces.
For more formal occasions
rhinestone and crystal are still
"high style", but are more col-
ourful than ever. Glittering
aurora borealis stones, set in
galeal or sflyer and sometimes
combined with pearls, have a
charm and glamour all their
own.
The earring selection is fabit-
louS — from the ever popular
button to dainty floral motif, in
all sizes and colours. There is
also a nice selection of earrings
for pierced ears (which, inci-
dentally, are becoming increas-
ingly popular) and the new ones
which do not pierce the ear lobe
but have a tiny, inconspicuous
screw -back.
Last, but by no means least,
for the younger set there are
sweater grips, charm bracelets,
and a selection of pendants,
large and small, in copper, gold
or silver, so smart to wear with
sweaters — not to mention
strands of tiny pearls, pearl and
crystal drops and dainty little
earrings to wear with those new
Party frocks.
