The 6' 112", 170 -pound frame of Larry Heide- man has been added to the eligibility list of the Ex- eter Mohawk a once regime again. Larry's case, which. g was presented to the public in last week's column, has been cleared up, Western Ontario Athletic As- sacat%on, after holding Heidie to a two•ga111e suspell sion, has given the O.K. for the lanky centreman to join his teammates ates for the balance of the season a 1 providing, of course, that he stays out of trouble. Alf Lockridge, business manager of the WOAA for the past several seasons, told this corner that Heideman's past record saved him. According to Alf's statistics, Larry didn't have enough minutes in penalties last year or the year before to hold a drop of water. The old saying that "you can't win games . in the penalty box" is apparently what the major decision was based on. With Heidie's past record being so favourable, the WOAA executive didn't have much choice than to give hint the play -again nod. The only miserable outcome of the whole Ileal is that Larry will have the black mark of a "Match" against him in the • record books which shouldn't really be. If he happens to get a deal again like he did from officials Jack McKinnon of Guelph and Merlin Dixon of Fergus, things could really be rough. Misconducts and game misconducts seem to be almost as common as minor penalties in WOAA Group 1 loop this year. Practically every team has at least one player on its roster that has been nicked for some major offence. Where- does it all end? The only chance of cutting down the number of more serious offences in our books, is for the referees to get tough and stay tough all throughout the game they are officiating. Not for just one period! Serious offences should be followed with fines and indefinite Suspensions. Lockridge reports our way that the winner of our loop will play off with the champion of the Group 2 league which has Forest, Blackwell, Point f.4,dward and Dresden in it. At the .moment, Forest Lakesides leads the league with a 10-2 record. The other WOAA Int. "B" loop which will partake in the playoff series for the WOAA title takes in the Philipsburg, Palliser - stop area. The most startling news of the whole hockey setup is the fact that Alf got a letter from the O.H.A. asking hint to have his Int. "B" representative ready by March 1.
