Quebec demand drives cattle prices higher
The market at Brussels Stock-
yards traded actively on a good
demand at higher prices with
interest from Quebec on both cattle
and feeder pigs. Cows and pigs
sold higher. There were 1213 cattle
and 894 pigs on offer.
Choice Steers sold from $84 to
$88 with sales to $91. Good Steers
were $80 to $84.
A steer consigned by Mac Willits
of RR I, Wingham weighing 1210
lbs. sold for $91 with his offering of
51 steers averaging 1165 lbs.
selling for an overall price of
$86.95. Fourteen steers consigned
by Stewart McCall Ltd. of Walton
averaging 1207 lbs. sold for an
overall price of $88.13. Ten steers
consigned by Vic VanAstine of RR
1, Dundalk averaging 1212 lbs.
sold for $87.40 with his lot of 19
steers averaging 1197 lbs. selling
for $86.45.

$83.38 with sales to $85.25. Seven

951 lbs. sold for an overall price of
$82.09 with sales to $84.60.

averaging 965 lbs. sold for an
overall price of $81.35 with a sale to
$85.75. Six mixed heifers consign
ed by Gordon Dougherty of RR 3,
Goderich averaging 1096 lbs. sold
for an overall price of $83.22 with
sales to $84.30.
Choice cows sold from $50 to $54
with sales to $60. Good cows were
$46. to $50. Canners and cutters
were $42. to $46. Heavy bulls
traded to a high of $65.25.
Thirty to40 - lb. pigs traded to a
high of $1.20 per lb.; 40 to 50 - lb.
pigs to a high of$l. 16; 50 to 60- lb.
pigs to a high of $1.05; 6^ to 70 - lb.
pigs to a high of $.98; 70 to 80 - lb.
pigs to a high of $.88 per lb.
