Sports Club to hold rally
Members of Walton I met at the
church in the basementfortheir
January meeting, Wednesday
evening. The theme on the Pur-
pose was well displayed by Olene
Dennis assisted by Gloria Wilbee.
The U.C.W. Purpose was re-
peated in unison. Doreen Hackwell
was pianist for the hymns,
Edith Wey gave a splendid topic
on the Women of the U.C.W. She
said women should all look at the
U.C.W. Purpose. When it is
broken down it can give different
thoughts. It was asked what can be -or
done to make all women feel they
are working together for the good
of the church. How can people
make them feel it is important to
attend. Several gave their
thoughts. Edith closed with pray-
er.
The offering was received and
dedicated. Olene closed this part of
the meeting with prayer.
Marie Coutts presided for the
business opening with a poem,
"Life's Blessings". Minutes were
approved as read by Audrey
Hackwell. Viola Kirkby and Gloria
Wilbee were chosen as new copper
contest leaders for this year with
donations to come in June and
November.
In the correspondence a thank
you card was read from Lois
(Williamson) Hodgson for her
shower gift from Walton I unit and
ON.
for the gifts to Torrance Dundas,
Sadie McDonald, Dave and Lavina
Watson at Christmas time.
Doreen Hackwell gave treasur-
er's report and Annie Reid report-
ed for the quilt fund, with a few
more quilts to be done, possibly
one to be put in the first of this
week. Names were given out for
the February cleaning list. Mem-
bership U.C.W. fees were
collected.
For the congregational annual
meeting this Sunday, Walton I unit
is responsible for setting up for the
pot luck supper at 6 p.m.
The U.C.W. will have two
suppers this year for the Blyth
Festival with this unit putting in for
one on a Friday night. The new
supper prices were discussed.
The meeting closed with the
Benediction. Grace was sung
followed by a social half hour
during lunch served by Marie
Coutts, Viola Traviss and Betty
McCall.
WI notes
The Walton Women's Institute
has called off the noon luncheon
for this Wednesday. The Resolu-
tions meeting will go in the evening
at 8:15 weather permitting.
On Monday evening the Walton
Area Sports Club committee met
for its monthly meeting at the home
of Bruce and Pam Clark.
President Judy Lee chaired the
business. Minutes were read by
Margie Taylor and Karen Hoegy
gave treasurer's report.
Plans were made for the annual
snowmobile Poker Rally to be held

Mrs. Kathleen Cuthill, Seaforth
and Erin Mitchell, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Mitchell also
attended on Christmas Day with
Phyllis and Emerson. Sorry their
names were missed.
Saturday guests with Ruth
Thamer were John and Kim
Thamer, Kitchener; Steve Sr. and
Wendy Noble, Cathy and Steve
Jr., of Grey Township.
Paul Mcllwain, Seaforth, Tracey
Fischer, RR 3, Brussels, Bev
Stevenson and boys spent Sunday
afternoon at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Allan McCall on the occasion
of Ron's birthday.

HODGSON-WILLIAMSON
A quiet wedding was performed
at Duff's United Church, Walton,
Saturday, Dec. 28, 1985 when Lois
Elaine, daughter of Mrs. Helen
Williamson and the late Herbert
Williamson of Walton, was united
in marriage to Christopher John,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Hodgson,
of Aldershot, England.
The ceremony was performed by
Bonnie Lamble of Walton and Rev.
Cheryl-Ann Staudlebauer-Sampa
of Egmondville.
The attendants were Doris
Williamson of Walton and Martin
Hodgson of Aldershot.
Those attending from a distance
were Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Hodgson,
Martin Hodgson and friend Kevin
Area SportS Club lucky winner was
first prize of $100, G. W. Stephe-
nson, Brussels; second prize of $25
went to Jerry Bremner, also of
Brussels.
Gunner all of Aldershot, England;
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Morrison and
family of Moorefield and Mr. and
Mrs. Eric Williamson and family of
Mississauga.
