Knox Church has special entertainment Sunday worship in Knox United Church was conducted by the minister Gary T. Shuttleworth. An organ and piano prelude was by Mrs. Barry Millian and Lori Millian. "To-day Is Born a Savior" was sung by Junior and Senior Choirs. Junior choir sang "Child of Bethlehem" under the direction of Karen Webster and Mrs. Gordon Gross. "Oh Holy Night" was sung by Senior Choir with Christine Busch playing violin and Mrs. Greg Park taking solo parts with Mrs. Barry Millian as pianist. The Fourth Advent Candle was lit by Mr. Gordon Gross. Junior congregation under the charge of Tammy Shuttleworth, Leona Cun- ningham and Anita Gross. The minister chose for his sermon, "Merry Christmas". Offering was received by Greg Park and Rodger Cunningham. "Christmas Around the World" was the theme of a concert by Knox Sunday School on Saturday, Dec- ember 21. As the audience was being seated, Christmas piano selections were played by Janice Webster and Laura Lawrence. All the Suriday School pupils sang "Child- ren Round the World are Singing" and "A Child is born in Bethle- hem" led by Superintendent, Karen Webster. Next Lana and Leslie Lawrence sang "It's beginn- ing to look a lot like Christmas". , The "Kindness Kids", the Grade Two class of Lori Millian presented Christmas customs of Ireland concluding with the carol, "Here we come a carolling". Following this, the Nursery Class, the "Loving Lions", with their teacher, Glynis Young show- ed how children in Italy celebrate Christmas. The giftgiver there is an old lady called Befana. The song, The Marvellous Toy was sung by Ruth Anne and Michael Bakker. Austria's Christmas Eve visit of the "Kriskind" was enacted by the "Shining Stars" Grade 3-4 class of Barbara Bakker and Nancy March]. This was concluded by a Christmas Lullaby, "Still, Still, Still." Susan Dobie performed the Highland Fling representing Scot- land. The Kindergarten class of An- gela Millian did Christmas recita- tions and songs. In Holland, the presents are given on Dec. 6 by. Sinterklaus and his helper, Black Peter. December 24 and 25 are exclusively religious celebrations. A portrayal of the Dutch customs were given by the "Rainbow Connection" class und- er the direction of Margaret Bakker. They sang "Glory to God", a Dutch carol translated into English. The "Friendship Bears" with teacher, Tammy Shuttleworth told a Christmas Alphabet. German customs and a German carol "Ring Little Bells" were presented by the Grade 3-4 class of Brenda Powell. A favourite carol, "Away in a Manger" was harmonized by the Middelkamp family and Christine Busch. Local people celebrate Christmas Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baechler of RR 3, Auburn visited on Christmas day with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Foran of Blyth. Visitors on Boxing Day with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baechler were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Chapman of Goderich and Mr. and Mrs. Mansueto Renon and family of RR 5, Goderich. The Auburn Horticulture Socie- ty will hold their meeting at noon on January 6. Christmas visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lawlor were her mother Mrs. Gertrude Park of Dungannon and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lawlor, Andrea Alexandra of RR 5, Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hallam spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Culbert and Shelley of Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Haines and family of Beamsville spent Christ- mas with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Don Haines. Two little mice looking in On the Christmas preparations of Canada was the act of the Terrific Ten class of Margo Middelkamp. "Journey by Train" was a piano solo by April Gross. A trip to Bethlehem - today and at the time of Jesus' birth was enacted by the Joyous Juniors class of Marilyn Verbeek. Their song was "0 Little Town of Bethlehem." Concluding the program, Santa arrived to distribute gifts. Candy bags were also given to the children. Special helpers were Laura Lawrence, Fred Lawrence, Allan Webster, Larry Fisher and Jake Middelkamp. The Post Office Staff in Auburn and Rural Route 1,2 and 3 mail carriers wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR Special thanks to all those who gave Christmas presents.
