to find that Goderich, their opposi-
tion had decided not to come. It
gave the team a shot at the
tournament championship against
St. Marys. Unfortunately, that's
exactly what they needed: one
more good shot.
Michael McNichol had the kind o
day a player dreams of scoring all
six goals for Blyth. The team twice
jumped out to two-goal leads as
Danny Van Bakel had a tremen-
dous game, leading rushes then
scooting back in time to break up
plays when St. Marys went the
other way. Brian Van Steelandt
had a great game in goal against a
hard-shooting St. Marys team.
By the end of the game the
combination of Christmas parties,
church and illness that had reduc-
ed the team to only nine players,
took its toll and the tired legs
couldn't respond when St. Marys
kept on. skating. St. Mary's came
back to tie the game with just
minutes left.
An overtime period of five
minutes was added and St. Marys
managed one more shoton net than
Blyth and was awarded the
tournament championship by vir-
tue of that one shot. Still, for a team
that only two weeks before had
Welcoming worshippers at

Gordon Shobbrook. Ushers were

loving memory of Brad Kennedy
who passed away Christmas, 1982
placed by wife Jean and family.
The lighting of Fourth Advent
Candle, the candle of the shep-
herds was lit by Dennis and
Margaret Penfound. Children's
story time told the story of the
scared snake. The children return-
ed to sitwith their families. The
choir favoured with two anthems.
The sermon was "A shepherd to
follow Christ the Lord".
A large number attended the
Christmas
visitors
Christmas Day visitors with Mr.

Andrews were Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Wood, Doug and Karen, Wing-
ham; Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Ander-
son, Scarborough; Prof. and Mrs.

failed to win a single game at a
tournament in Howick, it was a
tremendous improvement.
Monday night Blyth, still miss-
ing several players, took on a
Clinton team that had lost to
Parkhill the day before in the
consolation round of the Zurich
tournament.
Blyth took the lead on a goal by
Craig Roulston from a scramble
around the net on a nice setup by
Rob Finch.
The kind of defensive lapses that
had been absent on the teams
recent winning streak cost them a
couple of goals however as Clinton
came back totake the lead. Michael
McNichol seemed to have used up
all his luck the day before when he
hit the inside of the goalpost but the
puck stayed out.
Danny Van Bakel came back to
tie the score on a solo rush but with
less than a minute left, Clinton
intercepted a pass in the Blyth end
and beat Brian Van Steelandt (who
played another strong game in
goal).
A game against Wingham on
Saturday, December 28 was can-
celled because of bad weather
giving the team a little more chance
to forget the hard luck of two
consecutive games.
Christmas eve service. Rev. Snihur
