'Twas the night before
Christmas in our nursing home
`Twas the night before Christmas and all are in bed
Thirty-four people lay down their sweet head
For they are dreaming of Christmases long long ago
Of their Christmas trees, stockings, and presents, tied in a bow.
Eva and Oliver Stewart are filling stockings imagine filling nine,
The turkey's in the oven everything is just fine.
Elsie Shaw is shooing Frances, Charlie and Nora to bed,
Now out comes the presents, the dollies and sled.
Margaret McBrien has Joan's stocking filled right to the top,
So busy baking and cooking doesn't know when to stop.
Maggie Griffith is home on the farm with her family dear,
I'm cooking and baking for everyone here.
Howard Clark is eating Christmas dinner with Gordon and Mary,
Aileen, Bonnie, Brad, Jimmy, Charlene, Robbie and Perry.
Murra and Gordon Grant are having Christmas with their children
four,
And under their tree there are presents galore.
Christmas is all ready at Jack Cather's place,
Santa's cookies are waiting, I'll just have a taste:
Francis Okeefe is reaching for peppermint candy,
I know that I'm cared for and this is just dandy.
Bill Close is saying Christmas is. just another day,
But deep in his heart he is happy and gay.
Millie MacFarlane's table is full of goodies, there's room for no more,
I've brought Roy and Jim's presents down at the store.
Ethel Fischer is preparing dinner for her family of eight,
The turkey is cooked now come fill up your plate.
Lillian Cox is singing carols on this Christmas Day,
While Helen and Jack with their toys run and play.
Verne Somers is reminiscing of Christmases old,
I've brought George and Pals toys with eggs that I sold.
Adeline Smith's filling stockings for her children three,
Ross, Isobel and Jean makes my Christmas happy you see.
Georgia and Donald are the children in Olive Dunbar's dream,
Says Olive come morning their eyes will just beam.
Stella Winn and her husband and Anna makes three,
Are singing and laughing round the big Christmas tree.
Marion Letherland's preparing dinner I love Christmas Day,
Up the lane guests are arriving with horses and sleigh.
Dorothy Higgins is having Christmas out on the farm,
Having turkey, plum pudding they'll do me no harm.

I'm home with my children I'm happy to say.
Bessie McCutcheon is cooking for everyone here,
Now it's my turn to do it like my Mother dear.
Ivy Kelly is dreaming of Christmases old,
Of Santa and good food and weather that's cold.
Audrey Seaton is chatting with her family dear,
I get this kind of feeling just one time a year.
Fertie Daniel's home from work, I'm all done for the day,
I've got everything ready for our Christmas Day.
Lynn Stasuik's in Holland it's different you know,
'on the fifth we got presents all tied with a bow.
Frankie Dunn's having Christmas with Tom. He's his twin,
With Mother and Father and the rest of his kin.
Jim Lawrie's in Scotland on this Christmas Day,
I'm home here for Christmas. I'm home here to stay.
Jalmar Pietikainen is dreaming of Christmas in his country far,
Of the Shepherds and Wise Men following the star.
George Hislop is saying pass the turkey, I'll have the drumstick if you
please,
You're a really good cook you sweetheart Louise.
Bob Bilton with his son, Brian and his wife,
Is carving the turkey with a very sharp knife.
John McMurray is done with his laundrey. I love Christmas. Do You?
Lots of turkey and presents we should never feel blue.
When out in the halls there rose such a clatter,
They all sat up in bed and said, "What is the matter?"
The MacGowans and their staff now came into sight,
Calling Merry Christmas to all and to all a "good night".

Goderich Elevators Limited pre-
sident, George Parsons, reported
in a letter to shareholders that a
strong performance in the second
half of the company's fiscal year
helped to rectify a first quarter
loss.
The company showed a net profit
for the period of $1.33 per share
compared to $.75 for the previous
year. Improved earnings on invest-
ments and the sale of a barge
improved the company's position.
One of the biggest areas of
improvement was in the com-
pany's handling of Ontario wheat
which reached a record 6.2 million
bushels. The wheat was received
and shipped in a period of just over
lOweeks which, Parsons says, is an
indicator of the potential of the
company's equipment and person-
nel. Western grain receipts were
down 30 per cent.
The company reported a net
income of $447,052 for the six-
month period compared to $253,
332 in 1984.
