PAGE 20. THE CITIZEN, MONDAY, DECEMBER 23, 1985. Blyth Novice players , coaches dreaming of Christmas BYRUSTYBLADES Recently I had a chance to do some indepth interviews with the players and coaching staff and I found out what each wanted to find under the tree on Christmas morning. James McNichol - James wants his own personal statistics sheet so he can keep track of his goals and assists and constantly remind cousin Brian which one has the most. BYTINABURKHOLDER BLYTHP.S. Once upon a time there was a Christmas tree. He was small and all the other Christmas trees were bigger than him and stronger than him. He felt sad because no one wanted him. Then one cold night a family came in the store. They were looking for a Christmas tree that was small and not too big. When the little girl set sight on the small Christmas tree she said, "Oh please Mom and Dad. Can we get that Christmas tree? Please can we?" Well, let me see. How much does the Christmas tree, over there in the corner cost Mr. Owen?" "Oh let me see. Ah, it costs 40 dollars". "Then we will get it." So they took the Christmas tree home. Mom said; "We'll decorate it tomorrow". "Oh Mom, can't we decorate it tonight?" asked Billy and Eliza- beth. "Please, please?" Letter Continued from page 4 almost everyone's mind these days." But I mean "The" gift - the very greatest and best - the gift sent to earth, from heaven, that first Christmas. Have you thought how no other gift every given, no matter how elegant, has ever brought so much joy? And have you thought how no other gift, no matter how expen- sive, has ever brought peace to human hearts? Only the gift from God, Jesus Christ, can give real meaning to life, and this is the only gift we know of that can give peace and contentment and fullfilment. My! what a 'gift-! Our prayer for all who read this is that you have, or will, receive this gift from God, which is offered in love, to all who will receive it. Have a good Christmas! Russ & Marion Cook. Brian McNichctl - Brian wants a pen with invisible ink in it so he, in turn, can given it to cousin James to keep his scoring stats with. Jonathan Collins - Jonathan wants a reinforced piggy bank to keep his goal scoring money in. Mike Bromley - All Mike wants is a hat. He has had two or three hat tricks this year and has yet to see a fan throw a hat onto the ice for him. (An old hockey custom). Christopher Howson - Christopher "No, we can't. It has been a long night", said Daddy. Meanwhile, the Christmas tree was feeling sad because he was cold and wet. A large tear rolled down his face. The next day Billy and Eliza- beth's father went out and brought the poor Christmas tree into the house. He set him up. Then Billy and Elizabeth helped decorate the tree. Pretty soon the small Christmas tree was both happy and looked nice too. After they had decorated the tree they sang some carols and opened some presents. It was the happiest Christmas ever, thought Billy and Elizabeth. wants a pair of elevator skates - then he would have the size to match his heart. Ryan Chamney - Ryan wants a Wayne Gretzky hockey stock that hopefully has some Wayne Gretzky goals left in it. Josh Yanchus - Goalie Josh wants a matching sweater big enough to fit over his bulky goalie equipment. Jamie Bromley - Jamie loves the wrist shot so much that he is looking fora hockey stick that shoots only wrist shots - not slapshots. Jerrod Button -Jerrod wants a tape recorder so he can tape the coaches' comments on the bench and between periods and then play them back when he gets bored. Peter Craig - Peter wants a movie camera so he can film his play in games and then show his brothers the right way to play the game. Henry Box - All Henry wants for Christmas is to be offered a part-time coaching job so he can give goal scoring tips to all the other players. Benje and Shawn Hakkers - Twins Benje and Shawn want to become Blyth's answer to the Sutter twins in Philadelphia. Coach Bruce Bromley - Bruce would like a bottle of "Grecian Formula" so he can darken the grey hair that this team is giving him. Coach Doug Chamney - Doug said he could use some new pens if the typewriter doesn't come in on time. Coach Jeff Howson - Jeff wants a daily calendar so he can keep his appointments, dates and meetings straight and maybe even remem- ber some practices.
