Blyth students write about feelings of Christmas tree
BY JENNIFER CUCKSEY
BLYTH P.S.
Once upon a time, I was just a
little seed until someone stepped
on me and pushed me into the
ground. Then it started to rain on
me. After it was over, the sun came
out and .I started to grow. When I
was bigger, ! looked at myself, and
it looked like I was growing into an
evergreen tree.
When a few years went by, I got
bigger and bigger every day.
When I was a big evergreen tree, I
let the birds build their nests in my
branches, and they liked it there.
One day, I heard my brothers
and sisters say, "That old ever-
green tree will never make a good
friend for us." And they moved
away. I said, "I don't care if they
call me names because they are
older than me. And I can't even
play with them. So I won't even
listen to them." So I was not happy
that day, and neither were the
other evergreen trees. They were
sad because of what they had done,
but they were too scared to talk
back to their sister.
Well, anyway, the big evergreen
was still upsest by what they had
done to him.
The next day was Christmas and
the big evergreen was hoping he
would be picked for the Christmas
tree. The Browns were out looking
for a tall, fat Christmas tree. Then
they saw the big evergreen. So they
chopped it down and put it on a
sleigh and brought it to their
house.
The other sisters and brothers
were sad because they were not
picked for the Christmas tree for
the Browns.
When they were back home, the
Browns put the Christmas tree in
the corner and put it in a pot. I was
happy that day because they put
little lights on me, and other things
too.
The happiest thing of all, was
when we had the Christmas party.
It was fun.

Once I was a little seed. Soon I
grew into a little evergreen tree. I
lived happily in the forest.
As the years went by I grew
bigger and bigger. Soon I was
almost as big as my friends.
In wondered what it was like to
be a Christmas tree. My friends
told me about an evergreen tree
about my size. They told that he got
cut doi,vn and they took him away
and we never saw him again.
I still wanted to be a Christmas
tree. I kept wondering what it
would be like. Finally, I decided I
wanted to be a beautiful Christmas
tree. I told my friends about. They

One day some people came to the
forest. They were looking for an
evergreen tree. I thought this was a
good chance to be a Christmas tree.
I looked my best. The people saw
me and came to look at me. One of
the people said, "Let's take this
tree." I was feeling very excited.
They cut me down and took me
away from my friends. Ifelt said for
a few minutes, but I thought of all
the decorations that would be put
on me. That made me feel a little
better.
Finally, they took me to the
house. They brushed the snow off
me. When they brushed off all the
snow they took me up stairs and set
me on a little stand. Then they put
lots of pretty decorations on me. I
was very excited. They put pre-
sents under my branches. Then
they put lights ail over me. Then
they turned the lights on. I looked
at myself. I was very surprised. I
looked very pretty.
Soon the family went to bed.
After a while, I heard little foot
steps going downstairs. I was
afraid fora minute, but it was just a
little boy. He crept under me and
opened and present. I had my first
secret. The next day, after supper
they had a big party. I felt very
happy.

"It's only seven more days until
Christmas. We'd better get a tree,
Dad."
"Oh yes, I forgot."
"You're always forgetting im-
portant things."
"Yes I do, don't I?"
"Well you'd better go to sleep
and in the morning we will go and
get one."
In the morning they didn't get
one.
But that night Father went out
and got a small evergreen tree.
When I got home I was happy
because the other trees who were
bigger than me and stronger than
me were not chosen.
The children were sad because
they didn't know that there was a
Christmas tree downstairs.
Tomorrow was Christmas day.
The children heard chimes from
the reindeers and a "Ho, ho, ho,
Merry Christmas!" And then all of
a sudden they heard the chimes.
Then all was quiet.
The children quietly crept down-
stairs. I saw them ripping open
some of the presents. They were
excited and so was I because they
put a star on top of me and put
decorations on my branches.

A Christmas tree would feel
happy to be chosen as a Christmas
tree at Christmas.
Here is a story about a happy,
happy Christmas tree that could
tell secrets to himself about how he
felt.
One day he said to himself, I feel
very happy since I've been picked
as a Christmas tree. The little tree
would be happy indeed.
The truck came the next day to
pickup the tree. The feeling of that
little tree made him happy that he
was going to go live with a family.
The only problem was that all his
friends were crying because they
wanted him to stay.
Then the tree in the truck waved
good-bye and told them he would
come and visit them. That made all
the trees happy.
At Christmas the little Christ-
as tree had fund with all the gifts
under the tree and things on the
tree at Christmas.
A couple of days after Christ-
mas, they took the tree back to the
forest. That made the tree happy.
The tree liked to be back with his
friends.
Every year all of the trees got to
have a turn being a Christmas tree.
