euchre results
Euchre party was held at
Community Hall, December 10.
Winners were: high lady, Anne
Glousher; low lady, Tom Hallam
(playing as lady); high man, Ted
Mills; low man, Warner Andrews;
novelty, Len Shobbrook.
There will be a euchre party
Tuesday, December 17 at 8 p.m. in
the community hall. This will be
the last 'til after the New Year. The
next euchre will be held on January
7 at 8 p.m. at the Community Hall.
Huron County
gets community
planning grant
A community planning grant of
$27,283 has been awarded to the
County of Huron, Ontario Minister
of Municipal Affairs Bernard
Grandmaitre announced last
week.
Mr. Grandmaitre said the grant
will be used by the county to
prepare an industrial land use and
opportunities study.
Community planning grants are
designed to encourage municipali-
ties to resolve land use planning
issues to reflect municipal and
economic priorities.
The grants also may be used for
special studies to develop com-
munity improvement policies; to
determine the feasibility of using
data processing technology in the
ocal planning process and to assist
in implementing the Planning Act.

Refreshments will be served
Prelude to the Service consisted
of trumpet, saxaphone and trom-
bone music played by Lori and
Steven Millian, Angela Schneider
and Anita Gross. The Junior Choir
sang two numbers under the
direction of Mrs. Gordon Gross and
Mrs. Allan Webster. A double duet
was sung by Nicole Middlecamp,
Karen Bakker, Kevin Webster and
Stewart Bakker.
The third Advent Candle was lit
by Mr. Don Haines.
The Senior Choir sang, "Merry
Alleluia". The title of the sermon
was "What present can we give to
God". Junior congregation was
under the charge of Gail Dobie,
Lori and Donna Lynn Armstrong
and Julia Glenn. Offering was
received by Larry Plaetzer and
Greg Park.
WMS meets
The Christmas meeting of the
Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at
the home of Mrs. Frances Clark.
The president Mrs. Martha Daer
presided and gave the call to
worship. She welcomed all to the
meeting. The program consisted of
Bible Readings and the singing of
carols with Carol Daer presiding at
the piano. A Reading entitled, "A
Challenge at Christmas in Ethio-
pia" was given by Mrs. Viola
Raithby. The January meeting will
beheld at the home of Mrs. Jean
Andrews on Tuesday, January 14
at 1:30 p.m.

UCW holds
pot luck
The U.C.W. of Knox United
Church held their Christmas Pot
Luck Dinner on Tuesday, Decem-
ber 10 at 12 noon with 40 in
attendance.
The president Lois Haines was in
charge of the after dinner program.
The theme of the meeting was
"The Star Scriptures" and medita-
tion was led by Betty Marsh and
Mrs. Peter Verbeek.
A piano solo "Star of The East"
was played by Marjorie McDoug-
all. Mr. Ernie Durnin favoured
with several mouth organ numbers
accompanied by Marjorie McDou-
gall. Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Lapp
showed pictures of their recent trip
to Italy.
Mrs. Elliott Lapp thanked our
outgoing president Mrs. Don
Haines for all her work and effort
during the past two years. Offering
went to the Christian Blind Mission
of Africa,

Mr. Gerritt Biemers arrived
home after a three week's visit to
Holland.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson
visited on the weekend with their
son William of Newmarket.
Mrs. Mary Rollinson and son
Murray have gone to Toronto to
spend the Christmas week with her
daughter Isabelle and Mr. Wes-
ton.
Knox United Church Sunday

on Saturday, December 21 at 8
p.m. at the church.
GARBAGE PICKUP
