Ratepayers will be responsible for any accident or damages to snowplow caused by snow thrown on to highway, and will be responsible if it has to be removed. Under Section 147, SS10 "The Highway Traffic Act"; "No persons shall park or stand a vehicle on a highway in such a manner as to interfere with movement of traffic or interfere with clearing of Highway". Any vehicle left in such a manner as to interfere with clearing of snow from highway SHALL be towed away at owner's expense. Ralph W. Campbell, Road Superintendent, TOWNSHIP OF EAST WAWANOSH The Women's Institute Christ- mas meeting was held December 11. President Helen Lawson wel- comed all, reading a poem, "Christmas". Rev. Dave Snihur led the devotion "to lieep our purpose firmly in mind." Marg Anderson thanked him and presented him with a gift of Christmas goodies. Alice Buchanan gave her report from W.I. area convention held at Nilestown. Correspondence in- cluded thanks from family of Polly Wiltse from re: Huntington's Disease and Rosemary Armstrong for Huron Day Centre for the homebound. Hullett township for W.I. representative. It was moved UCW's combine for party A large number of Londesboro and Burns U.C.W. members and guests enjoyed the pot luck Christmas supper and meeting. After supper Helen Lee con- ducted an exchange of cookies. A game by Mary Peel "unwrapping the Christmas parcel" was won by Margaret Whyte and Marsha Szusz. President Brenda Radford intro- duced the guest speaker, June Taylor director of the resource centre at McDonald House, Goder- ich. She gave a very interesting and informative talk and answered questions. She was thanked and presented with two tickets to Blyth Festival by Joan Whyte. Brenda also thanked speaker and any who helped in any way. In place of exchange of gifts, food articles were brought for Survival through Friendship. The program was on meaningful symbols of Birth of the Babe and his life. Thirteen speak- ers, each with a symbol, read the scriptures pertaining to the sym- bol. Well known carols were sung. Musical numbers were performed by Barbara Bosman and Ruth Vincent. Londesboro news briefs T. B. Allen Ltd. entertained their employees and Albro staff to a dinner and dance at the White Carnation in Holmesville on Dec- ember 14. There were 68 present. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Scott, Goder- ich visited with his mother Mrs. Jean Scott on Saturday. A Christmas family gathering was held on Sunday, Dec. 15 at the home of Tom and Marjorie Duizer and family. Present were Charlotte Bell of Blyth; Art and Joan Hunking and family of Exeter; Murray and Kathy Hunking and family of Goderich; Al Rivett of Dungannon; Mark Mitchell and Lorne and Addie Hunking of Londesboro. Kathy Popp of London spent the weekend with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Russell Good. Mrs. Hazel Watkins held Christ- mas, December 15 for her family. Present were Barb and Bill Holz- worth, Trish, Mark, Mike and Kristy; Angie and Tracy Gilmore, Palmerston; Shirley and John Mallett, Laura and Greg, Harri- ston; Bob, Wendy and Joey Watkins, RR 1, Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Radford, London spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. John Shier of Kincardine visited on Friday after- noon with Mrs. Joe Shaddick. that Marjorie Anderson be the W.I. representative on the Hullett Recreation Committee for another year. January 15 is Pork producers workshop with a noon meal to be convened by Alice Buchanan and Marg Anderson. Hazel Reid re- ported 20 shut-in boxes delivered. A 45th Wedding Anniversary gift is to be bought for Jessie and Harry Tebbutt. It was moved to have cards beginning in January. The roll call was answered by 19 present with a "show and tell". There was an exchange of gifts by Beth Knox. Margaret Anderson gave a demonstration of white start foam tree decorated with different colors of vegetable pieces which was very artistic. Also on display was a plate of gingerbread men cookies. The program included Christmas message by Helen Lawson and carols sung with Genevieve Allen at piano. The show and tell articles were judged. Lunch was served by executive. Saw LADDERS Up to 40 ft. A large number braved stormy weather to attend church on Sunday morning. Greeting them were Rev. Snihur and Jack Snell. Ushers were John Hoggart, Dennis Penfound, Carl and Ron Nesbitt. Rev. Snihur welcomed all, gave the call to worship and announced Dec. 22 and 29 Family services with no Sunday School. There will be a Christmas eve service December 24 at 8 p.m. The Youth Group party is at Snihur's at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19. The children's time had on display the nativity scene. Gold, Frankencense and myrrh were presented but greatest of these is love. The third candle, "the candle of the three wise men" was lit by Don and Kitty McGregor. W.I. holds card party On December 13, six tables in play at the W.I. card party. Winners were: ladies high, Dora Shobbrook; lone hands, Ruby Dolmage; low, Rena Watt; men's high, Rachel Reihl (playing as a man); lone hands, Harvey Dol- mage; low, Wilfred Shortreed. In charge were Helen Lawson and June Fothergill. The sermon was on a time for giving, to share with others. After church all retired to the basement and enjoyed a pot luck dinner after which carol singing led by Harry Lear with Gail at piano. Some games for the children were conducted by Dave and Karin Snihur each received a candy cane. Santa arrived and greeted the children and gage each a bag of treats.
