She'd missed breakfast and was likely to miss lunch with the kind of day she had and she was going to have a hamburger even if it was the middle of the day. Besides, Mabel had hamburgers that tasted differ- ent than any other, hamburgers she'd tasted. She thought twice about it before she was through. She just sank her teeth into it when Hank Stokes asked if Mabel was still using buffalo meatin her burgers. Mabel pretended not to hear. Julia kept on munching. Ward Black wondered what it would do to you if you got some of that buffalo meat from the animals that had TB down in the maritimes. Julia kept on eating. Hank said he'd seen pictures once of what TB does to the lungs and things and he proceeded to describe it in living colour. Julia didn't miss a bite. "But," said Ward, "It's the coughing and hacking you do with TB that really gets me. I saw a guy once who nearly coughed himself inside out." Julia calmly finished her hamburger, got up and paid her bill and even left atip. Then she came back to the table. "Best buffalo burger I ever had," she said. "Sometimes you've just to to ignore these bleeding hearts and get a good bargain when you can, no matter what the so-called "health ex- perts" say. Like you did, Ward when your wife stocked up on that New Brunswick tuna a couple of months back. Still enjoying your tuna sandwiches?" TURKEY BINGOS BRUSSELS LEGION HALL Friday, December 13 and Friday, December 20. Fourteen regular games, three specials at $25 each, one Share-the-Wealth, door ptize. Admission $1.50. Ex- tra cards 25c or 5 for $1. 8 P. M. SHARP DOORS OPEN AT 7 P.M. On Friday evening, December 6, the music club at CHSS presented "An Evening of Festive Music." The evening was under the direction of Rob Parr and Louise McGregor. The accompanist was Roxanne Martin. The music 100 band class opened the evening with two numbers. These students have only been playing instruments for three months and they gave the pieces their best effort. Singing some favourite Christ- mas songs were the large combin- ed choir, the Girls Chorus and the Ensemble. The 40-memberband, which has recently played in several Santa Claus parades, showed their fine form by playing two Leroy Ander- son favourites, "Sleigh Ride" and "Christmas Festival" and several other Christmas numbers. A smaller brass choir led the audi- ence in a singsong. The parent support group which served lunch at intermission, was thanked by Mr. Parr for their help throtighout the year, especially this year when extra fund raising events are taking place to raise money for a spring tour to Washington by the choir. Blyth students taking part in the Concert were Heather MacDon- Mat Use Citizen classifieds Blyth students in CHSS concert ald, Heather Bauman, Gayle and Elaine Poore, Steacy Elliott, Chris- tina Roulston and Julie Howson.
