White Gift Sunday held at Blyth United Church Blyth United Church was very beautifully decorated for the Sun- day School Christmas Pageant and White Gift Service on Sunday morning. Rev. Robin Lyons welcomed everyone on the second Sunday of Advent to the celebration of Holy Baptisn. and Eucharist. Vic Stackhouse of Auburn read the Old Testament Lesson Ezekiel 36: V24-28 also the epistle Romans 8: V14 - 17. The choir sang a lovely anthem, "He Loved Me When". Rev. Lyons had the children come forward and he spoke of the lighting of the second candle in the Advent Wreath. Due to the illness of the Rt. Rev. Wm. Townshend, Great Grand- father of Jonathan James Lyons. the Rev. Peter Townshend of Leamington baptized his nephew and God-Child. This was a memorable occasion, the Baptismal party being God- father Beck Lyons and Godmother Mary Townshend. The parish sponsors were Esther and Jack McCutcheon. Rev. Robin Lyons and Rev. Peter Townshend presen- ted communion to all. The white gifts were placed at the front of the church for the Huron County Christmas Bureau. REMEMBER: This Thursday, December 12 - 8:30 p.m. Board meeting. The Sunday School Pageant Prepara- The Theme for the morning was "Sharing Our Gifts" and during the service the Sunday School Children, the CGIT girls and the tion is Wednesday, December 11 - 7:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to donate articles for the Sunshine Shut-in boxes please do so by their Sunday, Dec. 15 as the boxes are being packed December 16 and 17. Teen Club presented gifts for the Family and Children's Services of Huron, the Survival Through Friendship House and the Ronald McDonald House in London. The pageant centered around three astronauts (Craig Bauman, Jeff Bromley and Chris Bolger) who manoeuvred their spaceship (built by David Spading and Jeff Howson)back in time to the Birth of Jesus. Selected verses of scripture concerning the Christmas story were read by Christine Stadel- mann. Special music included anthems by the Junior, Intermediate and Senior choirs and a special Nursery Class choir. The Kindergarten and Grade I classes presented a Rhythm Band number and an Instrumental Ensemble consisting of Marg Kai, Gayle and Elaine Poore, Heather and Rev. Ken Bauman andJulie Howson pleased the audience with their renditions of "Go Tell it on the Mountain," Silent Night" and "Joy to the World." All 100 members of the Sunday School had parts including sing- ing, shepherds, wisemen, ushers etc. The presentation was under the direction of Susan Howson, Marg- aret Kai and Cheryl Cronin with assistance from the entire Sunday School staff.
